CARB Legal Forced Induction

Has anyone had to smog their car yet with a CARB approved forced induction kit on their car? MY13 models will need to do them soon, and some may have needed to smog their car for a sale/purchase; I do see a lot of FI cars on the market. If you did, how was the process? Did it go smoothly? Was there any kickback or issues that came up?

My car should be due for a smog in December of 2019 (I think, based on the six year rule), and if Harrop hasn't gotten the kit CARB approved, I may consider going back to stock temporarily, or selling the kit and buying a JRSC or Edelbrock kit. Either way, I am interested to know if the technician just glanced at the CARB sticker and pressed the PASSED button, or if the technician looked up the EO# and/or a pic of the kit on a car.

If you have an experience, please share.

I think there is going to be a change going into effect on 1 Jan 2019 to change it from 6 years to 8 years. I think this would apply to MY13 vehicles. See the link below section (B) ii).

That’s potentially surprising and great news.

Been there, done that, with a JRSC 14, purchased out of state. CA requires all out of state purchased cars to get smogged to register.

Show up and smog as normal. Take a copy of your EO paperwork to be safe

I'll know if that new law is in effect next year as I will have to smog my 13 Brz with fi. It's in March . I do have headers that make me illegal and also have a "buddy " that does smogs for me just Incase I do have issues .

Is he at a smog only station? Some cars are considered a high risk for modifications or failures, so they have to go to smog only stations. These stations have proven themselves to be more reliable and consistent with failing cars at a predictable rate. Our cars might get flagged.
