I had some fun buying surplus equipment and reselling it. It wasn't really worth the time for me, so I have some crap stacked in the garage and an angry wife. There are countless ways of making money if you're struggling.

I used to do graphics and digital illustrating/paintings/comics on the side though that came to an abrupt stop when a friend of a pissed off roomate stole my pc and cintiq tablet. If I had 4-5k lying around I just might rebuy the equipment and do it again the upfront cost is killer.

Sucks on the equipment loss, thats rough - it really is good money. I do graphic and web design on the side, and I can usually pull in $500-$1000 for a couple days work with the right clients. It really is good money if you have the work lined up and the stuff to do it. Im pretty busy with my full time job (pays well enough to let me drive the car... Not quite enough to let me mod it!), but im hoping to slug away the extra hours for that extra cash now.
