Lightbulb GT86 intake question

Hello my 86 buddies can someone please answer my question!

I am thinking of buying the HKS racing suction intake but I am just wondering if I will lose the added engine noise (Sound tube effect) you get in the high when I reach 3500 RPM.
And if not is there anyway I can get that?? As I just love listening to the engine noise

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HKS-Racing-S...5f9e3e&vxp=mtr

Thanks in advance!
(GT86)

When adding an intake or after-market drop-in filter, you will gain more engine noise. Almost always.

I am sorry I didn't phrase the question properly.
I am just wondering if I will still have the sound tube effect inside the car when I get over 3500 RPM.

Yes I am aware of that, but will the sound tube still be effective if I was to install this intake?

I get what you are saying. You are talking about removal of the "Noise Generator" tube.

Yes, that intake will still be louder than your stock airbox with the noise generator tube in place.

No disrespect to your knowledge of this, as I am sure you know way more than me.
But are you sure that is true? Cause doesn't the sound tube link the intake noise directly inside the car so wouldn't that be much louder?

Thanks

If the aftermarket intake has a port for the noise tube then i would assume intake noise would increase with an aftermarket intake seeing as there is less restrictions.

No disrespect taken.

We have run 3 intake systems on our cars, aFe, Injen and AEM so far. All of them have had the noise generator tube removed and all of them have been louder inside the cabin.

I understand why you would think that, in theory, the noise tube should generate more noise, but in reality, it's not the case.

Nothing else I can really say about this, you will just have to hear it for yourself. Maybe listen to a friends car with an intake on it.

Cheers!

Why do you say that?? I am not too sure about intake in terms of performances wise. Cause I pretty much chose this cause of the Brand and looks and maybe sound. so please help me decide!

Thanks

So far, intake systems have been shown to make minimal gains. Before getting an intake, sit down and REALLY think what you want to do with the car.

If you are only looking for intake because it will sound mean and awesome, then I would look at Perrin or AFE offerings. If you are buying an intake more because of performance, I wouldn't do it. I would get a tune from Visconti, FA20, etc... and a drop in filter in the stock airbox. Performance wise, this makes more sense than an intake system.

If you plan doing big mods down the road (example, you plan on getting intake, exhaust, tune, bigger cams, redlining your car to 9K RPMS etc...) then I would either get an intake now (Perrin, AFE) or wait until I am ready to put down the big bucks so that the intake actually makes any difference.

Tough choices, think about it hard, and lay down a plan.
