My educated guess is that nobody would buy it. Please tell me the last time someone sold a car in the US with an engine smaller than one liter?

Tesla, assuming you mean one liter of displacement.

Edit: I do agree that the volume would be miniscule and possibly they'd be selling at a loss when all is said and done (like the S2000? NSX?), but I'd certainly line up for a test drive and who knows, maybe I'll become a fanboy, I laughed at the idea of buying a Toyota 4 years ago and I've had mine for 2.5 years now.

<$20k, MR, Honda, <1,900 lbs

There's little to stop them from selling a MR sports car right now with the K24. But they'd rather cater to the 1% with the NSX...

They are catering to younger drivers. I see plenty of new Civic SIs around town. Most Americans care more about straight line speed than driving dynamics.

The s660 isn't exactly "american sized"
http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...t-drive-review
Article mentions bigger 1.0 turbo motor for north american market.

Since we are all dreaming here, I would be happy with a honda motorcycle engine in it. From the CBR 1000rr.
Kei cars have been suffering as they are only sold in Japan. They are trying to figure out a way to export them. S1000RR has a nice ring to it.

Just as much rumor as any 86 'improvement', I agree with @Tcoat it will never pass NA regulations, kei cars are already under special rules in Japan, there is no such thing as "american sized", plenty of Americans will have no problem fitting and I didn't see any problems from the article, but reading this was a huge turnoff:

All that grip and the fact that the traction control can’t be switched off means there’s no oversteer to play around with.

I never understand when people say the 86 is overpriced. If people look at the details it all start to make sense. How many RWD/Light/Sports Cars are available for under 26K brand new? I want to see more manufacturers do that in this day and age before people call the 86 overpriced. What I want from Honda is a FR-S fighter with RWD but Honda has never been able to make a sub 30k RWD, lightweight vehicle with around 200hp or more.

Getting kinda picky there.
FYI S2000 was ~33k msrp
Take away 40hp and the electric top and it would have been under 30k, but then it would not be the same car that is holding its value so well today.

The top was electric? And it's msrp was 35k as I remember looking them up.

msrp was 32-35k+, like most cars msrp went up.
It was ahead of its time. It held the hp/per liter record for a production car for a long time until 458 Ferrari came out.
