Want to race a Boss Mustang in Grand Am? Here you go:

Here is the one for Pirelli world challenge, but there is no price:

Scion Racing doesn't sell bodies in white like this, but you could go to any dealer and buy all the parts to build your Pirelli World challenge FR-S and enter it in the series. The team that is building the Scion also put on an Agency Power header and Hewland 5 speed transmission which you can read all about here:
http://www.world-challenge.com/competitors/type2.php

i like how they said " the stock transmission cannot hold a superchargers power level" LMFAO...

Did anybody really expect TRD parts to be affordable and effective? Anybody?

I don't understand. Even if it's for race teams, what race team in their right mind would drop that kind of money when they can get an alternative for like $4k?

The demands put on a part for a race car are not even remotely close to the demands on a part for a street car, even one that is taken to track days and occasionally given a good beating. A $4k supercharger would probably not last through one race in this series, and if it did it would not make enough power to compete. These teams need one that will last through an entire season, although I wouldn't be surprised if they rebuild them after every few races just to be safe. Now, once you have this supercharger that you think is built up enough to survive in the harshest possible operating environment, you are not going to just set up an assembly line and build thousands of them without making sure all the bugs are worked out first. That means you build a few of them by hand, making it even more expensive. Race teams buy these hand built, expensive parts, in the hopes that they are reliable enough to win them some races. In return, they provide feedback about what can be improved, and once the manufacturer decides it is good enough to mass produce, they mass produce them and that's when they go on sale to consumers. That's how just about every car part worth buying has come into existence.

You could also ask why would a race team buy a Ford Racing Boss 302 for $130,000 when they could get a regular one for $50,000? The street car has brakes that only need to stop from 100+ once in a while, it has suspension that never needs to be tuned for specific tracks, it has a transmission that does not like to be jammed into gear over and over for hundreds of miles. By the time you put in the overengineered, low production volume parts you need to make your stock 302 into a spec race car, you'd have spent well over what Ford charges you to do all the work for you.

I don't see how the existence of a racing-only supercharger kit precludes another version (or an entirely different project) for the common folk. I don't believe it for a minute..

I don't see how there's a market for this. No mounting hardware, no ECU tuning and it costs as much as the car...wtf...
How can someone think its an awesome idea to charge 26k for a kit that's not even complete. Not to mention it probably won't make any more power than the kits that cost a fourth of the price and contain all the necessary accessories. FAIL

So you spend 25k on the car itself. Then an additional 26k on a supercharger kit. Then you have to go buy ADDITIONAL parts to make it a complete kit?

Wtf are these people smoking?

There are numerous supercharger and turbo kits that are turn-key or damn near close and don't require you to get a damn sell all your belongings to afford it. If anything, the car should come with the supercharger and be priced at 26k for the whole car.

TRD has become a joke.

Let's face it, if I went full retard and agreed to buy the two, no one will take the second one off my hands as no one would be dumb enough. So what? I'm 52K in the hole, plus the cost of the original car, that's 77K MSRP. Let's say it's 4grand after tuning and the rest of the outrageously priced TRD pipes that need to make this thing work.

that's 81K before any taxes or shipping which is 8000 more than a BRAND NEW Cayman S with 325HP from the factory. Not to mention the 2012 Cayman R can be had for less than a new 2013 Cayman S. I think it's quite reasonable to make the statement that the Cayman S is a far, FAR superior car in than the 86 by no stretch of the imagination.

You know what would be a slap in the face and nuts and have your shaft chewed off after paying 81K to have a supercharged 86? Getting only 50HP more at the crank for your troubles.

Almost as outrageous as TRD charging 250 for replacing a push button starter that may or may not be grams lighter than stock with a "better" mechanism.
