Where have I ever mentioned cost? On a car like this you can easily swap a ej207 and get 400 reliable whp.

If they [Subaru/Toyota/Yamaha] thought 175hp was acceptable for a redesigned performance oriented 2-liter boxer engine, it would make me wonder what other lackluster expectations they considered acceptable. I guess I'm weird in that I'm not going to reward a car company for building a car that I feel is an underachiever.
200 hp is almost 100% confirmed. Where is the 175 hp figure coming from?

Your definition of "lackluster" is the difference of 15 hp? REALLY? I guess they shouldn't have wasted all that R&D on the nurburgring testing since the average consumer here obviously only cares about a meager hp figure. What a shame.

175hp is what would happen if you took the FB20, made it breathe better, and turned up the rev limit by 1000 rpm or so. But we know this engine is more performance oriented and stuff, so the 193hp was to account for a minimum expected 10% increase in torque.

Well it's been confirmed that the Scion is 200 hp since Jack Hollis debuted the car in April? The only debate is weight and torque

I assume you mean 25HP? (200-175=25) And yes, I consider falling 12.5% short of the goal lackluster. You don't seem to be at all concerned about the power output, but say instead of weiging 2550lbs, the car weighed 2870lbs. Wouldn't you be pretty disapointed?

If 12.5% isn't that big a deal to you, when you finance the car tell the finance company you'll be happy to pay 12.5% interest on your loan.

Cite your source, because I didn't hear that part of it.

I just realized that I typed 2550 pounds when the rumor I mentioned was 1160 kg (2555 pounds).

It's a minor difference, but I don't want to be the source for a baseless rumor.

25 my mistake hah.

So if your audio system only turns up to 87.5% of the goal volume, you'd call the car lackluster too? I'm sure you would be very dissapointed since it didn't meet it's "goal".

Point is, I don't want to pay for things I could care less for. That 25 hp could will raise the sticker price, something that Toyota is trying to keep as low as possible. Considering there will be a rich aftermarket, getting to and beyond the 200 hp is not going to be necessarily difficult. I'd much rather add some horsepower than subtract weight or fix suspension.

My mistake I didn't see it on the video, but it's on the Toyota UK site.
