Take Motiv instead or JDL or any other quality stuff. There are plenty of options. Here is my setup for example:

The perrin 3'' resonated sounds great, I chose it over the non-resonated because it has too much rasp

Why did you go with the 3" and not 2.5"? I'm going with a resonator either way but I'm not sure which size. I've heard the 3" is just going to be slightly louder and more raspy? What do you think?

Sorry for the late response, but the reason I choose the 3'' is because I called Perrin and asked about which one to get. I told him I plan to turbo one day and he said the 3'' was the way to go.
And because racecar.

I don't own an FRS/BRZ quite yet, but I am aiming to get one by middle to end of the summer. (have to finish my freshman year of college) I have been looking at the Perrin Catback 2.5" but don't know whether to get Un-Reasonated or Reasonated. Only other exhaust mod planned is an UEL of some sort, no FP/OP. The other responses in this thread seem to be aimed more towards full exhaust set up's where as my plans are only as stated before. Any advice or even sound clips would be tremendous help! Thanks!

Resonated if you are getting a header. Otherwise it's raspy and sounds bad.

Bumping this old thread for opinions. I don't plan on header-back for a while, And i did purchase a perrin catback with both midpipes and a catted front pipe. I can't decide with what combination i want to put on my car. I'd like to be louder, but from what i've seen the resonated catback isn't too much louder than stock.

Edit: also i drive alot on the highway to work, is the non resonated loud on highways?

It depends on which size catback you got. If you got a 3" for sure go resonated. If you have a 2.5" resonated or non resonated both will be OK if you got a catted front pipe, of course the unresonated a little louder.

The 2.5" unresonated isn't that bad on the highway if you have a catted front pipe.

Drove my 2.5 non resonated Perrin catback for 2 years (no other exhaust mods) and loved it.

Definitely not too loud IMO.

I received many compliments on how it sounded.

Thanks for the input. I have the 2.5 inch catback. I have the stock front pipe on, and based on what I've heard and read I think I'll be going with the unresonated for now.

Sounds good, if you're looking for the mid pipe, give me a call. I actually have the 3" resonated with a catted 2.5" front pipe and it sounds great.

I actually have both 2.5 inch midpipes and catback. I just wasn't sure which one I wanted to try out first.

Question

@PERRIN_Chris I currently am running a full JDL 3" exhaust setup with catless UEL and it is obnoxiously loud and drones. I am looking to Perrin for a solution as my car is currently unbearable to drive. To quiet things down would you recommend switching to your resonated 3" exhaust or swapping back to the stock exhaust parts and installing your 2.5" resonated exhaust? Either way, I hope to be able to keep the catless header, but reduce the volume and drone.
