Another reason why we might see more of these on the BRZ or FRS is because this is a new platform. The cars are approaching the end of the mandated federal emissions warranty period and there needs to be real-world data to evaluate emissions system components moving forward. The only way to get enough test vehicles is to send out letters like these to current owners and see whether they want to provide a car or not.

The only time I would care about these types of letters is if it came from a state agency or the EPA. Usually those are in the form of a fine or subpoena to appear in court...

They were doing the same thing back in 2014 for the 13 model year. I received a similar letter for two of my Lancers when they were about a year or so old. They were only paying $50 though.

Yeah, I have to navigate around a track day, which is scheduled for the middle of the testing period. Haven't heard anything back from them yet, so we will see.

I'm a multiple winner in the EPA recalled car class, so this is actually kind of nice to see that they are checking in before it gets that bad.

Or better yet, tie it to a swivel chain in the middle of a field and run it 24/7 at 70MPH. Help them with the duration portion of the test.

Wait, how many Lancers did you have?

I'm sitting here imagining Tcoat with a warehouse full of fleet Lancers...

2008 GTS which was a great car
