On these two tires, yes. I know it doesn't make sense

Allow me to ask .. in reference to your 205 tires and your old 215 tires, which tire has the wider contact patch ..??

Well, that would depend on tire pressure, obviously

Well now, new2subaru, I don't know if you have a misunderstanding of tire sizes or your new or old tire(s) are mismarked or you're just trolling me or just yanking my chain ..

But, when you say that your new tires, in the size of 205 mm, are wider that your old tires, of 215 mm, I just don't understand.

The interweb tells me:

"Tire Width is the width of the tire measured in millimeters from sidewall to sidewall. The first three-digit number in the tire size refers to the tire width. For instance, in a size P215/65 R15 tire, the width is 215 millimeters."

Help me out here -

Performance tires, depending on brand and model vary in width. The number on the tire is more of a suggestion than a measurement

So, what you are saying and @new2subaru is observing, is that although the tire sizes which are marked on the tires (measuring the width, sidewall to sidewall) may be 205 mm and 215 mm, the 205 mm tire may have a wider tread (hence a larger contact patch (at STP - Standard Temperature & Pressure) than the 215 mm tire?

Do I have it right now?

Contact patch area remains the same/or dependant on his pressure.

It’s a well known fact that performance tires are wider, and sometimes narrower, than what they’re rated it. This becomes more true as you get closer to r-comps.

I also have a dash cam that runs even when the keys are not in the ignition. Wanted to make sure they were actually changing the oil and not taking the oil canister for a walk. When they first got the car, two guys are looking at the car and under dash. Not sure why they were doing that other than they wanted to disable my dash cam. They could not find where it was hooked in and they were afraid to pull the fuses. LOL

Then I start talking to another tech and he says a tech got fired last month for taking a customer's 86 and doing donuts in the parking lot. I'm thinking WTF!
