I would give you guys a part two but I was busy helping with the official video on the Redline Review channel. Many of you know that I work as a creative person on this channel and this time we did the BRZ as soon as possible to get you guys a good review

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnOan0hY06g"]2017 Subaru BRZ – Redline: Review - YouTube[/ame]

It would really help us and me grow as an editor if we could get you support, Suscribe and view ! This will also give me more opportunities to work on video test on the twins. Thanks

I'll do my personal impression part two later today, but I doubt it be as good as the professional one we did yesterday.

Peace!

Hopefully you'll do a BRZ PP once they arrive. Nice review.

I'll try my best, I'm sure the boss is totally cool with it. We just need to find the car, either Subaru provides it to us, or we find a volunteer.

In my experience if it's not the Impreza or other models(crosstek) Subaru is a little slow in providing cars, they are quite a small company when it comes to a press fleet, there's a long line from the bigger outfit to ours. I don't blame Subaru.

In this event I basically lend my car out for the weekend, and it was just a day old. I feel like the Top Gear producer who lend his CAYMAN out to Clarkson for a review back in the day.

still I'm glad you all enjoyed it. As a member and Enthusiast like you; it would be bad if I lend out my car for a review and didn't let the editor push it. We all wanna know how it performs and we know now it's spectacular at it.

I'll keep everyone posted!

There's also the fact the max torque is now reached 200 rpm earlier (according to 2 recent Aussie 2017 GT86 reviews (MT cars only)). By itself it's not much but added to the extra power and torque plus the changed final drive it should give you a bit more push.

With the Abarth version of the Fiat 124, the max torque arrives 700 rpm earlier than it does on the standard version, and the reviews of that indicate it made quite a difference, but that is a turbo'ed engine of course so the impact is greater.

One small thing the Redline reviewer missed when talking about trunk storage was how the capacity is greatly increased by folding the rear seats down. As an ND owner I guess he's forgotten that some cars with back seats can do that lol.

Can you comment on any difference you noticed between the two shifters? The Redline reviewer thought the new car had a smoother and less notchy transmission than the Series.Blue he drove but the time gap between his drives was pretty substantial. He also said the clutch was a lot lighter and the takeup shorter on the new car - not heard that from anyone else.

Also you can see the traction/stability system light flashing on after changing gears and he indicates it's grabbing at the wheels - wth? On a 200 hp car? If you kill stability and TC do you get wheelspin then?

Wheelspin is probably partially due to the tires + the relative lightweight of the vehicle, the primacies just aren't very sticky.

There were variations in shifting feel even with the demo FRS when it first came out, and my BRZ when I first got it. I guess it attributes to manufacturing tolerances and wear.

I can chirp my rear tires if I shift very quickly at redline, that's because the roads are not perfectly flat and the Torsen LSD will grab right after you hookup the next gear and back on the gas hard.

This^ I have driven 3 different ones of varying age and mileage and they all had a different feel.

2017 BRZ Quick Review from 2016 Owner

Edit: I should mention that I haven't paid attention to any reviews yet because I wanted to get an unaltered first impression of the car. Now that I've had my first impressions, I looked at some reviews and they share the same perspectives as I do!!

I drove the new 17' BRZ at my work today. However, I can only speak for casual daily driving because it's a new car and I treated it nicely (below 4000 RPM). If you're interested in differences between the two in terms of daily driving, then keep on reading.

I'm happy to say there are noticeable differences that could be felt right away. Overall after driving it for only 10 minutes, I can say that it definitely feels different but it's hard to really explain what's different.

With the car still off I noticed right away how skinny the steering wheel was.

With the car on, the first thing I noticed was the lower engagement point of the clutch. That said, the 17 model doesn't lug as much if you give it minimal gas compared to the 16 model. This means driving in stop-and-go traffic will probably be smoother and easier in the 17 model.

As I shifted into 2nd at about 3000 RPM I noticed a change in how the Revs fall--it falls a little slower. The lower clutch engagement point also means I'm getting into gear quicker so there's more room for error if you screw up your foot work. One big difference I noticed is that if you shift around 2500 RPM the new gearing can handle slower speeds at lower RPMs/higher gearing better. Again, this makes it better for daily traffic grinds.

Other small things I noticed was that the exhaust had less of a wheezy tone to it and a little more depth. If anything the exhaust sounded rather quieter but bigger changes were to the tone. There's less idling noise and cabin noise during acceleration, probably due to the newer engine internals.

Besides those things the car felt pretty much the same--again for driving less than 4000 RPM. Power and acceleration felt the same.

Overall I think the changes make the car better for a daily driving. I wish I could speak for spirited driving but I do respect the car and the owner who will buy this car.

In my opinion it's not a bad thing but I do appreciate the rawness of the 13-16 models in this RPM range.

Summary: For driving in traffic or city speeds, the car feels more refined.

Thanks, could you please check in your future comparisons, if the newer steering wheels is as close to the driver as the older car? That would be, a) if the telescopic thing is the same length b) the steering wheel is more concave now?
I would love to have the steering wheel a bit closer to my chest than in 2016.
Thanks

I'd be interested to hear more comments or opinions on the suspension. as I feel our (earlier) years are somewhat harsh and not dampened correctly. Esp. on crappy PA back roads.
I swear I could feel a blade of grass if it was in the road. LOL
I'd like to hears what thoughts are on the suspension changes.
