If that MAF was as gummed up as you say, I'd start by cleaning more of the gunk, it could easily be in and around the IAC as well.
Argh. Vacuum seems okay according to Torque, voltage is always at 14.5V (seems too high to me, wtf? why is it always cranking out so much electrical power?), and this happens when the engine is warmed up fully.

I should definitely get around to cleaning more gunk, but I honestly can't see any of those things. I can sorta see the throttle body assembly but it's sitting way back under a bunch of frame. I have no clue how I'm supposed to start taking things off, because I don't see anything that comes off. I'd love to try the running water or something down a vacuum tube, but I don't see any vacuum tubes.

Ah well, maybe winter break I'll take the whole intake tract apart and figure it out.

If I actually drove this everyday I'd look into a lot more things but it just doesn't make sense to pour money into a 12 year old car whose parts are no longer being made and which doesn't have a huge aftermarket following anyways. I'm kinda hoping that nothing big breaks by the time I decide to do major work on it or sell it, so I just don't have to bother with it at all. I mean, if the clutch were to blow tomorrow, I'd probably try to get a little bit of material machined off the flywheel, the longer 5th gears put in. I kinda want a custom regrind on the intake cam to bias the engine's characteristics in the way that I prefer, but that would cost like 10% of the car's total value or something. I mean, a few hundred bucks buys a LOT of gas and oil/oil filters...the yearly expenditures on this are looking to come in at under 1000 dollars everything included. I really hope someone makes a new MR2 like car someday (Honda? ) with a more exciting powertrain, if I have a newer car then I won't feel as bad about blowing money on it lol.

That's understandable and if it's working well then I wouldn't worry too much about an idle speed that's bouncing around a bit.

That sounds like a fun class, more fun than discrete math or calculus 2! Lol

No point since I'm in a Computer field -____- but it's exhausting. Midterm was a few weeks back. Research Paper, 2 page essay due in a few day. A week later ANOTHER exam and ANOTHER 2 page essay and Finals review.

Sweet on that Jap class. I have been learning a lot from my Networking class @Exhaust

Definitely! Sadly, there's a lot of textbook readings, which I hate!

Really? I mean if this were an 80-early 90s car sure that's understandable, but this is OBDII era and it can't decide what speed to idle at with zero load... Never seen a car do this.

I really don't know how bad it is, the idle on my FRS stumbles a touch even. But if its bad enough that you think it needs attention, then I'd recommend starting with removing the IAC and cleaning it and the passages it runs through.
