Experimental is only marginal cheaper, if that. Yea maybe acquisition is less if you don't count sweat equity, and you can work on it yourself for most things, but the hourly cost is about the same (same engines for the most part after all).

Also, unless you build a "brand name" experimental (like a VANS, or maybe a Rutan design) the selling market is abysmal. It's like a custom car, you'll never even come close to getting your money back out of it.

Money only comes in from suffering so someone else doesn't have to. Other wise it always costs money.

Yeah that looks like a cool spot. Was thinking Angeles National Forest or something up that way (since I'm somewhat familiar with the area), but I suppose light pollution and trees would be annoying for serious stargazing. My wife and I are stopping at Lake Arrowhead on our California tour/honeymoon.

Sounds like my parts fulfillment department. They recently shipped an order freight that was supposed to go to FL, to CA instead from OR

In my 2 years as that department manager, and the guy before me was there 7 years, we hadn't had as many screw ups combined in our tenures as they have had in the last few months and the current guy only has a quarter of the responsibility either of us had.

It's pathetic, and I make sure to let him know that every day

To complicate matters even further, the keel is a wing itself, creating areas of high and low pressure as fluid (water) flows around it, therefore generating "lift" in certain directions. Sailboats are pretty incredible things. Yes, keels are pretty dang heavy in displacement boats (the one on my little 26' footer weighs about 2200 pounds) but they're also shaped with a leading edge and flared very much like a symmetrical wing.
