Auto tranny flush? I know it says 100k miles but read people on here are doing them around 30k to 50k.

I plan on doing the same once I reach those miles.

There's pretty much no modern cars that require a 3 mo/3k mi service - that's sheer dealer gouge if they try and insist on it. Make sure they (know to) use synthetic oil, and properly replace the crush washer on the oil plug so it doesn't leak.

There's never any harm in simply following the manufacturer's service recs. Even the best dealers will try and sell you on flushes and whatnot at their own intervals. I would just point to the manual and say, "It's not in here, so no thanks."

As for mudguards, I installed them on mine once I got slightly wider tires (only one size up), because without them the side of the car gets almost instantly filthy. The front guards especially help a wash go a little longer (assuming mostly dry conditions of course). They are pretty small and unobtrusive imo.
I was always wondering if the 7500 miles or every 6 month thing for oil changes assumes you use synthetic oil or standard oil?

(I'm looking through owner's manual now - even though the records say the car was serviced at around 30,000 miles - I'm leaning towards getting brake fluid and engine air filter replaced which should have been done at 30,000 service appointment)

Any recommendations on anything else to get done? As this is an auto - if brake and engine oil are changed - I can't really think of any other fluids I'd need to replace at this moment...

Thanks for the help everyone!

(edit: Still haven't decided about this damn mud guards... but am just going to go over to the dealership in the next few days, and check out the models on lot to see how they look in person... never really did a live comparison before... I generally hate the look, but the OEM mud guards seem like such a minimal design that they aren't an instant turn-off for me)
All the Canadian ones come stock with the mud guards they are barely even noticeable. I highly recommend.

This. They look a little out of place in pictures, but in person they aren't terribly noticeable. I think they even look good.

Just to clarify, the manual/Scion Boost says the interval is 7,500 or 7.5 months, whichever comes first. I'm not sure where the guy who said 7,500 miles/6 months got his info. I think he was mixing the FR-S up with the rest of the Scions/Toyota intervals, which is 5,000 miles/6 months.

Yeah thanks. I didn't have my manual handy which is why I was uncertain about the time interval. I flipped a coin between six or 7.5 and chose wrong (I knew the mileage was right though).

The main point was, there's definitely no need for a 3 mo oil change unless maybe you tow a trailer through the desert.
