@Sportsguy83

Really glad you got your tune sorted out man! I learned a long time ago how important consistency and drive ability are especially with forced induction. Thats the main reason I'm always harping on about fuel-trims, knock correction, closed to open loop transition etc etc. Driving a car thats fast as heck one minute and on its face the next just takes all the fun out of it. I'll take consistency and area under the curve over show off numbers any day of the week!

Glad Tony was able to get you sorted out man.

Thanks!! Toni definitely worked it. I keep scratching my head and kicking myself for waiting for so long but EVERYTHING happens for a reason.

You keep it up too, I know you are great at what you do and are always willing to help share info. Thanks.

I'm not sure I understand this part. The AVO intercooler mounts so that it's directly under the bumper beam. There should be a lot of space between the intercooler and the radiator.

what it should look like.

As you can see in the above photo, the radiator would have to be very thick for the FMIC to impact it. You don't have it switched around, do you?

No, not switched around. I asked you on the phone to make sure I was installing it correctly.

The problem is not the distance between the radiator and the IC, its the condenser brackets that hold the Condenser to the radiator. There is about a 9 mm space between them. I believe it could be made to work modifying the Condenser brackets (making them shorter, shortening the distance between the Radiator and Condenser). But using the stock Condenser brackets, more than ~ 9 mm are needed to fit the radiator in.

I didn't actually try to install the FBM radiator, but I did measure. The radiator added (IIRC) 24 mm of thickness. All the thickness is added towards the front, nothing towards the engine. Even conservatively saying half of it was being pushed towards the bumper and the other half towards the engine, 12 mm still dont fit in ~ 9mm. Other kits have narrower IC's and that is how the condenser bracket bolt clears.

Also, your picture is showing the clearance on the bottom, but the problem is the condenser bracket bolt at the top, in the driver's side.

I did try to install Robispec's V.1 and it wasn't even close, like not even making new brackets.

This is what he is talking about. This picture should help explain this issue:

Ok, that explains the issue a bit better. This is one radiator brand that we know fits, several of our overseas customers have fitted it with the kit:

Koyo and those CFS radiators will work with the AVO kit.

The Koyo radiator fit ok on my car. We used a modded fmic mount to be able to install everything from below without taking the front bar off. The mechanic who fitted it is on vacation sorry or I would get his input on this.

Seeing a flawless victory install of the Bullet (Innovate) intercooled kit on my brothers car it made me think about this topic a bit recently. AVO has a very well thought out and put together kit but due to being an early adopter I did experience quite a few issues along the way, resolved at my cost & reported back to them.

Awesome! I ALMOST got a Koyo but was hesitant to pull the trigger. Bob also mentioned an AVO Oil cooler might be on the works, anything to share about that?

Thanks for your input Nix! I also payed the price as early adopter (no showstoppers, just little details). I'm sure AVO took notes from those issues and has made improvements.

Curious why the AVO downpipe / over pipe wouldn't fit. Might a third party (eg Perrin) overpipe solve the clearance issue?

I tried two different aftermarket Overpipes, both had the issue. gdrider77 tried two different brands too (one was Perrin) and had the issue on both.

NOW, I am not saying every single AVO kit has the issue. there have been several successful installs of the kit with zero hiccups. I just posted my personal experience and its shared with a few others. Either way, shouldn't be a deal breaker with anyone it is still a great FI kit.

Thanks @Sportsguy83 for your insights and honest feedback. It's very refreshing to hear the truth about an experience without the candy coating or cheer leading. Glad she's running good!
