2 piece rotor options for performance pkg
Gents.. I’m looking to see if there are any options out there to get two piece rotors for cars equipped with performance pkg.
I’m ideally looking to offset the weight of a bigger wheel / tire combo as well as 2 piece rotors are just so much better looking. Thanks in advance for your suggestions

Racing Brake sells a 2-piece rotor kit, for 12lb saving in (unsprung) weight, see:

Are these really for PP, not rather for stockers, by chance?

Would not touch Racing Brake 2-piece rotors with a 10-foot pole, complete junk. Here's what happened after one hpde weekend in my Mazdaspeed6. Customer service asked me to send the rings back, once they received them, never heard back. Stay away.

I'm not that sure if 2pc construction in general is to be blamed in this particular case. I'd rather blame these rotors being crossdrilled, thus much more susceptible to cracking under abuse (such as HPDE/track). Imho blanks or just slotted should held up much better, leaving crossdrilled just for show.

i suspect the rotors were too tight to the hats. if it was a cross drilled issue, the cracks would have been at the cross drilling, but it seems they were all at the leading edges of the rotor hat connection point.

Those do not appear to be for PP.
These were the only ones I could find. A little less expensive than FT86speed. https://www.amazon.com/5654GLDXS-10-...y&sr=8-1-fkmr0 |

For sure.. I won’t attribute those cracks to it being drilled. Rather improper torque specs between hat and discs.

We have it in our back pocket, but it's dependent on whether people appreciate a proper engineered system or something cheap, which is basically whatever is on the market right now.

CSG has 5 different brands of disc on their website. They are for sale. They are "on the market". I don't consider those brands to be "cheap" or inexpensive.

The cracks are right in the radius. All those cracks are stress cracks. That is from too much flex in that area. The bolts could be to loose but my guess is a poorly engineered rotor. That radius should be a lot less to distribute out the stress. Or they just went to light, or both.

A proper motorsport 2-pc disc? We can make one as long as there's a market for it, but the pad compound is really the key factor in improving overall brake performance. |
