2019 BRZ strange issue..

So I just picked up my 2019 and I’m super impressed with it... however there is a strange issue with it...

If I leave a cell phone plugged to a cable from the 12V outlet in the center console... when I shut off the car and lock it the radio and clock starts blinking and keeps the radio going. If unplug the phone then no issues and the radio shuts off.

Anyone ever experience this? And if yes.. how did you remedy it?

Simple, just unplug it when you get out of your car.

Check your manual. There may be a setting. Or do as AC said. Probably a feature not an issue.

Find a charge cord with a diode? Have to assume it’s feeding power back in to the switched power circuit and freaking things out.

I would not expect that be normal behavior.

Confirmed my ‘17 does not do this with an iPhone XR. That’s the older head unit though.

I have an '18 and this has happened to me as well a few times. I restart the car and turn it off again so the infotainment properly shuts down, and usually do not have any problems after that. Not sure if this is a huge issue, but it may be a bug in the infotainment system. Thanks for sharing.

I showed it to a local dealer and they suggested they warranty the whole head unit. Question.. is how involving is the swap.. hate to have them rip apart the entire dash and it ends up developing rattles.

You answered you own question. Don't have them do it if it is something you can work around entirely. Not worth having them goof with it. With that said, it's only the bezel plate that gets taken off and 4 bolts, I don't imagine they could mess anything up with that.

Cool thanks. If it’s that simple .. let’s see what they say if I ask them to give me the head unit etc and I change it myself.

I doubt they will do that, but if you're gonna try, offer to bring your old unit with you when you pick it up. They will likely need it for warranty reimbursement.
