But buying a used car still takes a significant amount of money, why spend money on a BRZ when you really want the 86? Just wait a few more months and you'd find them out there used.

Meh, maybe its just me. I always hate myself if I end up "compromising" with myself for a purchase.

so in a few months you think i can get a used 2017 86 special for just a few $s more than what i paid for a used 2013 brz limited?? i think not.

Totally agree, I think of the vehicle as an "86", regardless of badging.

I wasn't necessarily wedded to either brand and shopped them both, however I ultimately went w/ Subaru..
The base BRZ has an MSRP $800 < than the Toyota 86 (for no feature reasons I could discern), I liked the Subaru's (fake?) leather dash & door pieces better compared to Toyota's "Granlux", and most important (to me) I had a much better pre-sale support experience from Subaru than I did Toyota.

That is still not off the table. I just have to find all the badges cheap enough. Not willing to spend a fortune for a joke.

Until this post, i had no idea what MY you bought used. I dont know the mileage of your used car, or how much you paid.

Just switching to the FRS bumper and having it paint matched will set you back at least... 500? Around here it'd cost 800. Depends on labor rates where you are.

Dunno man, your money.

Back when I had a VW squareback, I found a badge on the sidewalk and decided to replace the rear "VOLKSWAGEN" letters with the found object. My vdub proudly proclaimed itself a "Corvair" from that day forward.

Rebadging is foolishness, but waiting for a bit of serendipity can make the foolishness a little amusing sometimes . . .

people need to realize these are the same car. fathered by toyota and birthed by subaru. they all come from the same factory.

why compare it to rebadging a kia to a ferrari or any other non-related rebadging (which i agree is foolishness)? its not like im rebadging a wrx to a toyota.

What are you talking about...? My original argument was wait for the MY17 Toyota 86 cars with features similar to the BRZ Limited to show up used.

Your thought process is as confused as your car is gonna look.

Eh let OP go through that phase. He'll look back when hes older and have a laugh that he spent so much time on badges.

your original argument is moot.

as for the car looking confused, its about as confused looking as its going to get once i put trd parts on it. lol. so eliminating all subaru emblems/badges would actually make it less confused. catch my drift?

I am glad mine has Subaru badges. If mine had Toyota badges I would have not bought it. May be the same car but Toyota's bug me. That Prius of Sh!t they make stinks up the highways. There cars are so mundane. I don't understand Toyota fan boys. Oh well I doesn't matter drive what u like.
