Lots of win. I'm iffy on the grill. But I know I'll come around if the car drives well. Love that they confirmed the engine and manual transmission right off the bat. Well done so far Nissan. Let's hope you survive long enough to bring it to reality.

I like the look. The front grill needs to be restyled. I'm seeing a lot of this:

When I want to see a lot of this. Not necessarily a bar, but something to break it up:

But we can see the hood lines are retro, the katana blade looks good, the rear quarter panels look good, the low roof line and rear looks good. They just need to finish the grill and refine a few more lines, and I like it.

Edit: I bet once they get some markers, turn signals, fog lights, the bumper will look more similar. The area below the headlights needs to be recessed further back and broken up.

Yep, pretty much as everyone expected, it's the 3.0TT V6 from the Q50/60. Confirmation of manual availability is good.

Your move Toyota.
I doubt this impacts Toyota much. If a manual was part of their product plan for the Supra, it will come, if not, I doubt they will throw additional funds at it now just to compete with the Z.

For the record though C8 corvette still winning for design change and performance change.
Disagree on design, I think the Z looks better, much cleaner and more timeless. I'm not a fan of the C8 styling, although I like that it went MR engined. But the styling is a bit off for me. Performance wise, the 400Z was never going to threaten the C8, which is in a significantly higher price and performance bracket. The Supra, and possibly base Mustang/Camaro V8s are the realistic competition for the new Z.

Hopefully Mazda joins the battle.
I would love them to put the RX Vision into production, perhaps with that new straight 6 engine they are meant to be developing. But I fear they are happy with the MX-5 as the only sportscar in their lineup. Mazda is a small company, and probably struggles to make the business case for a second sportscar given how low the volumes are. Hopefully I'm wrong!

Unfortunately, the 400Z will be the same. It is looking like a $45K purchase, which is very likely out of reach of the majority of Z enthusiasts. They will come out with a 2.0, but it won't be enough.

There are a lot of shapes happening up front and I'm not a fan. Everything else is great! The tail looks sweet.

I'm... actually the complete opposite. I think the rear is the least appealing of what is otherwise a beautiful design. But holy shit twin tuirbo V6 + 6-soeed manual; hell yeah.

I would never, ever trade my FR-S for anything, but this is a very, very good trade up if I wanted to.

I'm wondering if Nissan will pay homage to the 432 and 432R and drop in a VR38DETT at some point. That, I would love to see.

I'll take the Nissan.

The Toyota, whilst nice just feels too compromised. The BMW interior, the lack of a manual, the design cues that were forced to be shoehorned under the shell of the FT-1 concept.

Ironic that Nissan who are in financial dire straights went the full in house route, while Toyota who have money to burn, let the bean counters dictate the Supra.

I’ll wait for a final product to fully pass judgement. It is a concept after all. At this point, it looks retro, but too boxy and bland like the 5th generation retro inspired Mustang; it needs to adopt the retro look, but skip the boxy stage and move to the next gen.

Like I said in the other thread, they will fix the front and add turn signals and fog lights and all the other creases like the other Nissan concepts eveolved to the production car, and I bet it will be pretty sweet looking. I’m more into the Z than the Supra. I owned two MKiV Supras and had five vehicles with a straight six, so I have a soft spot for that. Nevertheless, the looks, likely price and manual transmission would be enough for me.

I like the interior. Not a fan of anything going on with the exterior. Its like they got the front designed and cropped the last 3" off. Also check out how high that belt line is jeez.
