From the Auto Panel blog:
"The slower acceleration to 60 is due to the addition of the 6-speed, in which it takes three shifts to reach 60 whereas it takes two on the outgoing 5 speed."

Seems like this could be a good tradeoff.

Absolutely. Same reason the twins are a half second slower to 60 than they seem. 60mph and 100km/h are such arbitrary numbers... They don't really indicate how fast a car is unless the only thing you're trying to do is get to the speed limit on a road as fast as you can.

Honsetly i love the wrx series, but this one is ugly. If they every get close to the concept i will update by sti, but as for driving appeal the sti is fun, but everyday when i come to the garage i always pick the BRZ to drive. sti more practical and faster, but the brz is blast to drive.

I don't think the WRX has ever been a great looking car, it's certainly been better some years than others but never a neck-breaker.

I do like this new one, mostly because they are finally putting a 6-speed MT and hopefully the interior won't be as bare bones. I am definitely interested in checking one out once they are available.

As much as I love all the attention the BRZ gets because of it's fantastic looks, there's something to be said for trying to be a "sleeper" and basically driving a turbocharged Impreza (yes, I realize the hood scoop and flared fenders don't exactly make it a sleeper, but it certainly will get less attention than a BRZ).

I like it, the front end looks good. Nice improvements to the interior as well. Will definitely have to drive one when my dealer gets it in.

I don't mind "purposeful ugly" (think 2002, bugeye WRXs), but this is the worst kind of ugly: "boring ugly"

i am just glad i didn't wait for this car. i was debating buying the BRZ this spring, or waiting for the new WRX after i saw the concept car designs. i was warned (thankfully) that there was a good chance the new WRX would NOT look like the concept. boy, how true that was.

This reminds me of the GEICO commercial.

The wife comes down stairs.

What is this?

That thing is just hideous.

disappointing

Why release a beautiful concept to get everyone excited and then come out with this. If it was even close to the concept I was going to buy for my wife but now no thanks. FAIL!!!!

Everyone said the FRS and BRZ were ugly when the shots were leaked... Oh I wonder how our reactions to the car are now..

BRZer actually had a point initially. Your response to his original post was pretty silly.

Compared to the awesome concept that Subaru showed off the production car is a real disappointment. I wouldn't say its ugly, but it definitely isn't exciting. Oh well, maybe next time.
