The bigger meets in VA are usually the Mach V (Sterling - up in Northern VA near DC) and Pence Subaru (Richmond - central VA) meets. Everything else is kinda meh.

If you want affordable, I would think that the blue ridge area would be cheaper than ODR. You're talking country versus beach/city.


My suggestion:


Avoid Northern VA (Arlington, Chantilly, Fairfax, etc) and DC like the plague. There is a lot of congested traffic, and lodging/rental costs are high. Richmond is not that bad, though. I lived in RIC for 3 years - congestion is unheard of unless its rush hour.


Virginia beach runs a risk of hitting a lot of summer travel folks (for the beach). Also, traffic around the Naval Base in Norfolk tends to be terrible.

Roanoke is conveniently located for those traveling in from north or south as it is on I-81 and close to the I-77 merger. It's a calmer city, though.
