Any Modification regrets?
Hey guys, as the community is getting well into modding the twins, we're starting to see more of "I used to have <this> and switched to <this>."
If this is you, let us know why. We'd love to learn what works and what to avoid. |

Mine's stock right now (and will most likely remain so); however, I feel that a lot of people going for the Rocket Bunny kit will regret it when nicer things come out. Yeah, it gives it the widebody/racecar look, but it just doesn't look as refined as it could.

intake, $$$, but i like the noise and my AT doesnt have to downshift as much now when cruising up and down hills. Almost bought catback q300 but ended up buying JDM tips and I love it did exactly what i wanted. better looks.

Great thread! subn' Like Mandy said, mine is stock as well, it will probably remain that way, but if I ever get the itch it will be nice to know what to skip.

I have only tinted the windows and got LED DRLs and License plate LEDs from Concept-Three-LED's. Plan to get more LEDs for the car and eventually plan to go with Nameless Performance Header with exhaust and tune. So far no regrets but I have not done anything major yet either.

I have a few light modifications including, custom muffler delete, Apexi air filter, Cusco front tower brace, Cusco Carbon antenna and tint. So far I do not regret any of the modifications I have done.

I have a Perrin resonated catback, aFe drop in, Cusco front and rear strut tower bars, Cusco catch can, HIDs (6k), LED reverse lights, and TRD style carbon fiber rear spoiler, VG shark fin, 3M clear bra.
So far regret none, love all of it, if anything I was a little disappointed in the LED reverse since the pictures make it so much more than it was, they do look sick in person so I forgive it, but just not all THAT much more functional. |

1. My stickers. I had about 16 throughout the exterior at one point. Good thing they're removable... now I'm down to 6.
2. My Cusco tow hooks. Good thing they're also removable. But it feels satisfying getting my inner ricer out of my system. New uncut tow hook covers are on order. I might put the tow hooks back on for the occasional car show. 3. My Takeda intake. Wish I got the identical GReddy version with its blue logo to match my blue valve cover. Instead I have a red logo which sorta matches the TRD logo on my strut tower bar and thought it'd match my red TRD red sound changer til I discovered the sound changer is installed out of view. Plus the Takeda version was $50 cheaper than GReddy's. I also originally wanted a variety of brand mods (Takeda intake and GReddy exhaust instead of both being GReddy) to maximize count on the roll call of stickers that *used* to run down my rear window. But plans changed (see regret #1). My semi-color coordinated engine bay (intake logo matches red TRD logo if you squint for it): @DSOmegaX's awesome color coordinate engine bay:

1.) Cusco Strut tower bar. Well not really as I got it on a deal. But wanted something that not everyone had so I sold it and got the CF version instead.
2.) 5:AD spoiler. Again I wanted something not everyone else had so I got the TRD Japan lip spoiler instead. |

When my car was going through the turbo e85 transition, I took the opportunity to trade/sell parts off my car to compensate for the extra power of the turbo.
1. Upgraded wheel/tire setup Sold my 17x8 Gold RPF1s on Hankook Ventus v12 245 square setup ($950) and Seibon OEM style carbon fiber hood ($500)---> bought 17x8 Gold RPF1s w/ 235 BFG KDWs and 17x9 Gold RPF1s w/ 255 BFG KDWs (staggered setup for $1850) 2. Upgraded exhaust setup Traded my Perrin non-res catback for a Greddy evo3 for the price of $40 (split gas/toll expenses with forum member for the trade). Sold my Motiv frontpipe with HFC for $250 and bought a J2 Engineering 2.75" frontpipe for $100. 3. Extra cash purchases Bought air inlet for $40 and Perrin front plate relocator ($70) to delete my front grille. In addition, I bought GT86 fog bezels for $41. I had a lot of fun doing this lol. It honestly didn't cost me that much to upgrade my wheels/tires, exhaust, and venting. I felt like a barter king doing it! The one thing I learned from the experience is to always buy parts that'll have a decent resale value just in case you need to change up your setup. The Enkei's, Seibon, and Motiv stuff really held value.

I would really like a choice of rear defusers to bolt on. I have seen a few carbon fibre covers etc but I want something with a real race look (still legal if we can) and also be nice if it was affordable.
I might be dreaming..... had to put it out there. |
