2020 Toyota 86 Canada - no handling package?

Was waiting for this to finally show up officially on Toyota.ca website. Had my eyes on this model but totally bummed out that Toyota Canada would not be getting the optional TRD handling package and they seemed to have removed the trd exhaust system as an optional accessory. Was hoping to pull the trigger on the final iteration of this generation but the handling package was one of the main add-ons I was after. I guess I'll be waiting for next gen. I have no idea why they would exclude it for Canada

Is the handling package just TRD spings? Or are there other goodies too?

IIRC, slightly wider and staggered wheel/tire setup too.

For 2020, a new TRD Handling Package for the manual transmission- equipped 86 base model inherits the same chassis performance upgrades from the 2019 86 TRD Special Edition, including Brembo power-assisted ventilated disc brakes (12.83-in. front, 12.44-in. rear), SACHS dampers and 18-in. split-spoke alloy wheels with 215/40R18 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires.

Kinda want to stick with toyota though (i know it's the same car but personal preference) The only difference between the 2020 gt+ handling package from the 2019 trd edition is no body kit and no trd exhaust. toyota doens't seem to have the trd exhaust system as an optional accessory for the 2020.

I've actually had my eye on that 2019 model however the main dealbreaker for that is the fact it comes with the trd lowering springs which i do not want as the car is low enough already and I plan to drive it year round in Alberta winters. I did ask them if it was possible to replace the springs back to the factory ones and they said no. The 2020 models also comes with an updated infotainment system that supports android auto as well which is a plus.

I've noticed one thing though with the pictures when 6spd Manual GT trim is selected for 2020 it shows the 18" trd wheels along with red brembo brake calipers. However, toyota's spec list is lacking at best and does not include the brake type nor whether it comes with sachs dampers like the handling package does

Seeing as how the brz sport tech RS includes all that stuff in the trim, i was wondering if toyota followed suit and just included the handling package in the GT manual trim. I'm just waiting for a reply from a local dealer... i really do like the design of this iteration of the 86 and don't want to risk waiting for next gen for possibly a design that doesn't appeal to me (i'm sure performance wise it'll be much better)

See what you can find out. I think the TRD will have more than listed. I don't think the lowering springs will make a difference with winter driving. It's not enough of a drop to be a concern.

I have a set of stock springs here if you decided to change them out. Pay shipping and they're yours.

i wonder how much better the new infotainment system is also as that's really the only other thing the 2020 models have over the 2019 aside from an option to choose a color other than raven

From a screenshot of a presentation about the release cycles, it looks like summer 2021 for the next generation. Bit of a long wait.
