Can anyone provide a link to some official documentation whereby an imported car sold in America is referred to with "US domestic market" terminology?

Thanks. I understand what it's used to represent, I just question the veracity of it as terminology. Personally, I think it sounds silly.

I understand the JDM thing - people with US versions of Japanese cars sourcing items/options sold on the domestic (Japanese) versions. Conversely, "USDM" would apply to someone in, say, France looking for Mustang or Corvette parts from the North American versions, for example.

If, as argued elsewhere, EVERYTHING is a domestic market (USDM, JDM, AUSDM, et al), then there's no point in using the word "domestic" - it's without meaning.

I worked for GM for a while, and I guarantee that they at least do not refer to, say, the Australian version of the Corvette as anything "domestic market". There's the US model - the domestic model - and everything else is an export version.

So the point of this thread is to essentially prove myself wrong - I'm looking for evidence that at least one car company really does refer to their cars imported from somewhere else into the US as "USDM".

It's generally used to specify the differences. European cars vary slightly from Japanese cars, which vary slightly from US cars. Porsche, like GM I guess, has two versions. US and ROW (Rest of world).

It's not a real term, just a method of identification of specific parts and/or differences.

The fact of the matter is. Even if you are right, the terms have been used for Decades for what you are trying to prove wrong. Even if you are right it is still going to be described as USDM vs JDM cars for subtle differences. You can smile in victory if you are right. But no one is really going to care. I understand what you are getting at.

Apparently OP seems to be right. I cannot find an official press release from any Japanese manufacturer referring to US versions of a product as USDM. I guess the right term to use would be "US-spec", but then again, who cares. I just find it funny you decided to make a whole new thread in an inappropriate section of the forums after hijacking someone's thread just to make your point.
