Oil temperature rising?

I've just started having this issue after install my Perrin oil cooler that my oil temperature continues to rise to dangerous temps. I even noticed that the car temp gauge was also showing signs of engine temp rising. The mods that I installed recently was a mishimoto racing thermostat, koyo radiator, perrin radiator hoses, and Perrin oil cooler. I can't figure out why this is happening or what can be causing the issue. I'll also throw in I installed the raceseng A/C delete.(doubt that its linked to any issue). I'll note I didn't do a proper coolant install after install the new radiator. As for the oil cooler. I followed the instructions to the key for getting oil into the oil cooler.

if the coolant temp is rising as well check the thermostat, ie its installed correctly not upside down, put the stock one back in see what happens, for the dash temp guage to rise it must be getting rearly hot, log the actuall temps via the obd port logging

I was monitoring the coolant temp in the car with my p3 gauge, and the temp usually would stay around 195. Can the oil temp be affected by the coolant temp? I'll also mention I did an oil change right after this spike thinking the engine was getting oil, and the temp continued to rise. After the change and driving the car around. The oil temp would go up but wasn't as high. As for the temp gauge on the car it was fluctuating on the car. By going up, and coming back down to normal temp. I checked under the hood to notice all the coolant from the tank was gone. So I refilled it back up, and waited for it to cool down again before taking the car back home. I forgot to mention that after changing the radiator, and thermostat from the system. I didn't even go through half a jug of coolant when refilling. I'm thinking that there just isn't enough coolant in to the car. Especially if after 10 minutes of driving and when removing the radiator cap. It showed as if there wasn't enough pressure in the system for it didn't shoot off.

I think your problem is caused by your other installs and not the oil cooler. Not sure why it would happen after the oil cooler install but it sounds like the mishimoto T stat, aftermarket radiator could be the issue. The temp gauge is water related and nothing to do with your oil, of course if your engine is over heating i would assume the oil would get hotter. I think you need to start from scratch and do a complete and proper coolant refill/burp. Make sure your mishimoto T stat isn't stuck.

I used it when installing my Mishimoto radiator and radiator hoses. I have had no issues.

Drove around yesterday in 100 degree temps and my coolant temperature never passed 194 degrees. My oil temps reached 190 degrees. On not so hot days, my coolant temps range from 190-193 degrees and my oil temps are normally 183-188 degrees.

That's probably how much was just in the radiator itself. You have a bunch of air in the system still. Fix it before you ruin your engine.

That's the plan. Given that only a quarter of the coolant was used in the jug. The Grimspeed instructions say I need 7.2 liters. That about two full jugs of coolant. (I still have both of mine sitting) This is strengthening my thought that The lack of coolant in the system is the cause of this issue.

Thanks for picking up our thermostat! As others have noted, it sounds like you are experiencing some symptoms of an improperly filled/bled cooling system. Go ahead and give it another go with filling and bleeding air from the system. The guide linked by Zeal notes the use of the bleeder port located on the heater hose. Be sure to follow the practice of bleeding air from this location.

Once complete, you should be all set. Let us know how it works out!

What constitutes "dangerous temps"?

230F is not.
250F is not.

As for bleeding coolant, this is your friend if you ever want to work on your own cars:

I'll just flat-out say it: your oil temps are too low if that's what you are hitting on cool days.

Oil temps need to be above boiling, otherwise you will not burn off water and non-oil parts that may accumulate.

I'll check my oil temps again next time I take the 86 out for a drive Btw, cool days in Texas lately have been anything just under the century mark so...lol

I know that this past weekend my oil temps hit 190 degrees maybe even 191 but my oil temps never surpassed my coolant temps in @20 minutes of driving.

**note: I'm running Eneos 0w-20 full synthetic engine oil**

You're doing it wrong if your oil temps don't go past water temps.
