It's not like we never get snow here either. They were just leaving them in the middle of the road too. http://katu.com/news/local/possibly-...ays-after-snow

What's worse is that they don't drive like that when it's dry. At least not around Portland

Because it can't happen to me- not today.
A lot of times fucktards in trucks/jeeps/subarus equate AWD with All Wheel Brakes and they think that makes them OK to speed or drive however they want. Automotive journalism and advertising does nothing to correct people's thinking either. Manufacturers encourage people to think like that. |

I live right by a freeway off ramp and the first few rains of the year I'm almost guaranteed to see 2-5 cars a day fly off into the mud going into the turn way too fast. I've thought about standing out on the back deck with score cards to hold up lol.

Gotta admit I was guilty of this last night, wet roads and I was going between 50-75MPH on the highway.
The way I kinda see it, it definitely is riskier, but as long as I do the following, I should be OK: 1. DONT cut off other cars 2. Leave plenty of space in front and behind me. 3. Slow down for curves/turns. 4. Dont accelerate hard out of a curve/turn. 5. Slow down on rougher/bumpier/pothole-filled stretches of the highway. Am I still a **** for going fast in wet conditions like that? The only time I really slow down to below speed limit is when its freezing out and there was recently snow/rain. |

The bigger question is why do people drive 35 mph on the freeway (65 speed limit) when rain kicks in. It like they never drove in the rain before.

@oso_25 I've heard explanations that because it rarely rains in southern California, the there's more oil and dirt in the road that doesn't get regularly washed away, so when it rains the roads are much slicker there. Also hydroplaning is a thing even at the speed limit.

My theory on drivers that speed up in the rain is that they are aggressively trying to prove a point to the pu55ies and those of us that are willing to blend in with them. By "they" I include the younger version of me. ...somewhere in Mexico.
