I love how fast my 6p can charge on USB-C straight. Way better than old USB.

The fast charging was very nice indeed. I was worried that meant all my mini/micro usb stuff like batteries, cables etc. would be useless but I actually didn't mind.

Alas, after much searching, it looks like the combination of small form factor + decent performance just doesn't exist anymore. It looks like I'll just have to get used to ridiculously HUGE 6"+ phones if I want decent performance.

At least its just replacing cords mostly and not entire chargers anymore since everything seperates. Having to buy multiple house and car chargers sucked

I believe the type C requires a higher amperage for the fast charging to work, so most typical USB chargers and batteries won't work (but probably still charge regular speed). Also, most type C chargers I've seen are hardwired (non separable), probably to improve the fast charging.

I used to want a small phone. But I'd rather have a small computer/large phone than a small phone and useless computer. When I went to use my old Nexus 5, I was stunned at how tiny it seemed.

If you want to give it a try let me know. It's pretty cool for giving you an option of noise level at the click of a button.

Is it bolt on or does it need to be welded?
