Given how long it's been since I've bought a computer and how long I'm guessing I will be keeping the new computer I'm going a little expensive.

Here's the tentative parts list:
i7-8700K + Noctua NH-L12S
SAMSUNG 970 PRO M.2 2280 512GB PCIe Gen3. X4, NVMe 1.3
G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2x8GB)
Corsair Carbide Series 300R
Toshiba 2TB 7200rpm DT01ACA200
EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G3
GTX1180

And a motherboard of some description. Too much choice, I will see what the local computer shop recommends.

Only US$2.99 until the end of July.

I am thoroughly enjoying it. Awesome running and jumping with a little exploring. Quite linear, interesting atmosphere. A fun bargain.

12 hours of gameplay. The Valley is worth the hand full of loose change.

Next to no replay value though.

I can see myself losing way too many hours to this.

I would get a larger cpu cooler. The 300r can support a taller heat sink and if you overclock the 8700k, I doubt the one you selected will be able to handle the heat. I assume it will run warm stock speeds too. The Noctua NH-L12S is for low profile cases where space is severely limited.

Thanks for replying but I did end up getting a couple of different items.
I bought an 8700 (not k) because I wouldn't overclock anyway and I had read these chips run on the warm side at base clock.
I also bought a Noctua NH-U14S plus Noctua NF-A15-PWM because I like cool and quiet.

Now I'm just waiting for some independent testing of the GTX2080/ti but I will probably still end up getting a GTX1080ti.

Yeah but I think the most impressive thing I have read about the game is that it is going to make The Witcher 3 look shallow by comparison. That is, the number of consequences in the game depending on what decisions the player makes, is another generation above The Witcher 3.

Can't watch these overly scripted bullshot trailers anymore, must be getting old, cranky, and cynical..even CDR screwed with us on the W3 bullshots.

Woooo!! 4 more days until RTX2080ti benchmarks get released!!

Deadcells = awesome. 205 hours played and I've reached the second last level 3 times!!
My goodness it was frustrating early on.
