From my personal experience, I think what contributes to the cliques is that no one really knows each other. I say we make an OC roll call! I've noticed South Bay and SD seem very interactive/organized, especially in their fb group. I don't know if we have one, but I'd like to start OC 86 owners thread and fb group. Not everyone is on the forums (let alone have the right etiquette for it) but everyone and their moms has a fb...this prevents dumbasses from flaming behind usernames and we can all put a face to our cars. Easier to create events and keep track of who's attending and share pictures.

Are you talking about creating another meet or moving the current meet? Another will just split us up. Moving will need a general concensus. I personally love the DJ location for it's ammentities but I prefer a bigger caravan so I'm with the majority.

I was not aware that imports used DJ bc I always thought they primarily used Boomers and I thought Miatas kind of faded? For imports@uci and any other groups that want ot use DJ, I don't see a problem with sharing the location. None of us owns it. We should work together to create an even bigger meet. Own the top two floors and just section it out, not to segregate, but to make the meet look better/organized. Bigger meets draws more (hopefully good) attention and attracts more cars/possible vendors.

Ultimately that's what a meet is right? To get together and share our passions for cars.

Personally, I've been to the meet twice.

First time, I came to the top floor and was pretty much shunned by all the FRS/BRZ owners.

Second time, I parked one floor down with the diverse bunch, along with a few other FRS owners. Had a blast, grabbed dinner together, mixed and mingled with both style and performance oriented minds, grabbed boba, tooks photos, and just chilled.

With this, speaking again only from personal experience, I've found the top floor to have a very elitist, almost snobby and snooty feel and I'll most likely never cruise back up there.

It's cause your car is "stanced"...

You're already automatically shunned from every frs/brz meet

I've always wondered what moves us to the top floor? I've came a couple times and it's been about 50/50 top and lower. I don't notice the snobby feeling but maybe it's because it's darker and colder up top? I heard that we just may move to the top if there's too many of us.

But yea, my first two experiences were exactly like yours. First time, parked on top, and everyone was in their cliques. A bit awkward/hard to introduce ourselves. Hence why I wanna make a fb group to put faces to our cars and better organize events. We can make themed meets too like RC days, pet days, or any other hobby so we can have more ways to introduce ourselves. Lol just really hard to create one when I only know forum usernames. Hopefully when I create it, people will join...

to the people saying it was better when it was only twins...WTF? come on now. yeah lets get together and discuss our plastidipped logos, intakes, and sick sway bars guys. how fun is that. I personally think it's funner to see a diverse group of cars to make it interesting. somewhere you can learn about other cars as well as ours. the bigger the better..nothing's more boring than seeing a group of the same model cars, 70% of which are pretty much stock touching ****s

Agreed. It'd be sick to dominate DJ with a car meet every Tuesday open to all performance cars. Turn taco Tuesday to Auto Tuesday!

Side note though, anyone else see the RHD R32 last night?!

Lol at cliques. Sorry but if you can't introduce yourself either, that's not on us. Plenty of times I've walked downstairs on my own and no one has greeted with open arms. And oh look everyone is in groups...what is that? A clique. Its normal human behavior...it happens everywhere given time. I assume you introduce yourself to everyone at a movie theater since the people there share a interest in movies /facepalm

This is exactly the problem...it's not about coming up and saying high to people and introducing yourself its the fact that people are unwelcoming. That or they have a snobby attitude when you are there. Not saying that this is solely related to this meet alone as it happens across all meets at some point but for the size this meet i'm surprised by the mentality...

My wife and I have been going to this meet for the better part of a year and a half. Anyone who has met her or me can attest to how we can talk your ear off if you could hold a decent conversation.

We group together because we've known most of these folks for the better part of a year and a half. We talk outside of the meet. We hang out on weekends occasionally, and a few of them were even invited to our wedding. Excuse me if it looks like a clique. It isn't. We just enjoy talking with our friends.

We'd probably enjoy talking with you as well if you just said 'Hi' or join the conversation. Honestly - not awkward at all... just a part of being a socialized adult.

Oh yeah, that RHD R32? The owner's name is Jack. Tall asian dude, very nice guy, and very hard to miss. You should ask him to pop the hood next time - and have a conversation.

And that's exactly why the top floor is the way it is.

Care to elaborate how people are unwelcoming or snobby?

We park at the top floor whenever weather permits, as it offers more parking space and we don't inconvenience the rest of the clientele at DJ. When it's too cold we park below.
