What are tow bolts? Do you mean the threaded inserts that you put a hook into to pull the car onto a flatbed? I installed a receiver hitch for towing, it bolts directly to the frame with five bolts and has a tongue weight rating of 150 pounds. This one - https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hit...leid=201322576 and I use this rack - http://www.swagman.net/product/sitkka-2/

I'd rather drive the subie to the ski hill than my truck? I have ordered the rhino rack ditch mount system for my car, which involves drilling into the ditch and attaching mounts under the trim. I'll keep you posted on how it goes.

What about the alternative rear tow rack? Drilling holes into the roof kind of scare me.

I want to put a ski box on the roof, don't like our gear exposed to the outside world. My son is a ski racer, and the gear gets protected.

I figure if all goes poorly, I'll just put in a sunroof, or one of those rolling canvas roofs and have me an open top motoring experience.

I'm very interested as well. Post up some pics while you're doing it and when it's done.

Hmm so when the towers are off it's just a black cap screw. That wouldn't look bad at all. This is a better solution than clips and denting and shit.
