Not certain about the websites credibility but it states you can begin ordering 2017s on 6/30/2016 with deliveries arriving in September.
yup, I also was checking the Donlen site and saw the factory order dates were now the end of June, which is a bit of a bummer to now have to wait till September for delivery. Luckily a new 2016 WRB just popped up on my local feed last night & I just now accepted the dealers offer. So, I think I'm minutes away for inking a deal on my first BRZ !!!

Well, they did say Fall release for the new Toyota 86 so it probably is accurate.

Depending on the region the historic delivery dates seem to have be anywhere from mid September to mid November. The FRS has always been outa month or two earlier.

As posted in the FR-S subforum, Tada is saying some very nice things about the refresh, which he states will also be coming to the BRZ side of the partnership (big surprise, I know):
http://www.motormag.com.au/news/1605...hief-engineer/

Notable claims:
  • "Everything changes, suspension, body, drivetrain, aerodynamics."
  • "ride comfort also very improved and suspension for the track"
  • “Dampers are completely different from current generation. I don’t need to have any explanation when you have a chance to drive.”
  • “It is next generation (ESC), different, completely different. No (more) sports mode, we gave it a track mode. More sports, more exciting, much more responsive."
Sounds very promising! Hoping they have tuned the engine/exhaust note as well, and resolved the torque dip.

I read the article. Sorry guys, but suspension technology doesn't change so much in 4 years. Only if you decide to change it with another one of a much higher cost (e.g. mono-tube). Base price remains the same, correct? And improvements in torsional rigidity? Current car is already very rigid even with high-performance tires. I'll wait to see the comparison to the current MX-5. Tada-san says, “No comparison … expect the next one will be much better.” I look forward to see ...

If Toyota and Subaru are truly confident they've made substantial improvements, expect to see a press invite to a fly-in test session where the journos will be able to drive the pre-and post-MCR cars side by side - the acid test. If no preview testing is offered...

Subaru did this one year ago in Japan. They invited a group of US journalists and offered a track day with two cars. First car was an an ordinary BRZ and second car was a version tuned by STI (BRZ tS). You could see a substantial difference in handling, but the STI car was 1 million yen more expensive.

Thanks now I don't feel so bad trying to achieve the same things as what Tada said after spending like $10k in the first 2 years of ownership.

Maybe he meant improvements in terms of OEM costs vs. value offered.

After two iterations of the BRZ tS, I think the factory always tries to make similar improvements with the OEM build for the stock car afterwards.

What I mean is I think basically the BRZ tS version comes from Hideharu Tatsumi (the dude that has been responsible for handling and ride characteristics for Subaru since the first gen Legacy, but now runs STI) like a consulting test bed first, working in tandem with Tetsuya Tada they then would try to replicate characteristics that deems fit for the stock 86/BRZ in the following model year.

No arguments here - the point of mentioning the article in BRZland was that the BRZ is getting these same upgrades, along with a much more attractive facelift.
