Better to use the Subaru OEM filter (15208AA130 ).

Interesting. Doubt it really matters. I used the K&N replacement filter, part number HP-1004. Same exact fitment as my Kia Soul 1.6 manual.

If you change the oil + filter at the recommended miles/km both filters will do just fine.

Just use Fram oil filters.

Maybe that’s why guys are reading oil halfway up the dipstick? Decreased oil filter capacity of that amount will change the fill quantity dramatically.

I had a shelf of oil filters for my old Honda so I was using those for about a dozen oil changes on the FRS. Not the right P/N but they fit and did the job.
