If it works, can you take a pic of what you're talking about?

You can't tap into the reverse lights unless you start the car in reverse all the time - the head unit needs to detect the camera as powered at boot up, or it decides you don't have a camera.

Are you trying to find something in the trunk area to tap into? I just ran the wiring back to the fusebox. If you're looking for a nearby power lead, I'd go with the stock amp which you can get to next to the spare tire. Apparently the green line is ACC power. Splice into that and ground to one of the amp bolts.

If I connect power to the fuse box, what amp fuse do I need?

I used a 10 as thats what I had lying around. I bet a 3.5 or 5 would be sufficient. I doubt these cameras pull much curent at all.

Forester factory camera draws less than 100 mA (less than 0.1 Amps).

Just finished install. I cheated and plugged camera power to the trunk light, which is always "hot". I know I should use the amp power, but I wasn't sure which one to splice not. Am I good the way it is or should I relocate to amp?

I'd move it to the amp power, it is the darker of the green wires on the bigger plug
(next to the red wire which is power for the camera).

Just finished changing the splice location. Thanks for this picture, made it way easier. Camera works great!

I saw another forum member placed his in the middle of the trunk (premium), looms to be the best viewing angle. With the stock location, its hard to see the rear flank on the driver side.

The Rydeen Duo looks great BTW. Only problem with it is that I used painters tape on it to hold it to the trunk for adjusting. When I pulled the tape off, some of the paint came off. I'll have to use some touch up.

How did you connect the camera power wire to the amp power? Is there some sort of connector that I can't see in the picture?

I just stripped about an inch of the wire, folded it over a few times and shoved it in there. I zip tied my wire to the factory amp wires so it wouldn't fall out. The camera has such a low draw that this won't be an issue.

Thanks for the thread, it's been a big help... I wish I'd read it before buying a camera. I got a license plate model which seemed to be less invasive and now I wish I went this route. Looks OEM!

I used a quick splice connector.
