Perfect excuse for a trip to California, or find a friend who is here with cash in hand. Let's do this.

Do you really want seats (which are part of a designed, complete SRS package) which were subject to this much force? I would think that at least the driver's seat would be technically toast, although it may appear complete and unscratched.

Every system of this car has been subject to a massive shock (or two) that it wasn't necessarily designed for (some systems were designed for this type of impact, not all), be careful with any swapping of moving or safety-related parts.

OP- GLWS, I wish I needed an engine and tranny for a project...

Actually, I believe you are right about one thing. If I'm not mistaken there is an airbag within the seat? I believe that went off.

I don't think you are right by saying that the systems (especially safety) weren't designed for this sort of incident. The car took the impact very well, and the driver walked away unharmed. In my opinion, the safety systems did exactly what they are designed for, a massive shock.

if it wasn't for tax season and pay deductions (mediWHA! mediWHO!) I would have bought this car for parts and projects. I'm biting my tongue really hard, even harder since IMO this is an [unfortuantely] good deal. How often do you come up an opps like this.

Sincerely GLWS and glad the driver walked away. Sorry for your loss.

Take out a loan, and come with cash in hand!
I know this is a good deal for the right person who is looking for this exact type of car.

OMG I'd love too. One of moments that are "too good to be true"...but actually is a good deal.

I can recall occassions where ppl were buying out z32s, z33s, for parts and ran sacking Sac/Hayward junkyards for whole cars. I was one of those with my 91 Eclipse & z32. Good fun side projects to pass the time.

I apologize if I wasn't clear. I do believe that these systems are designed for these impacts (to some degree, there are extreme circumstances), but aren't designed for further use once subjected to such forces, even if they appear, 'complete, not damaged'. i.e. seat back/frames and head rests that are loaded during impact are typically 'sprung' and would not be the wisest choice for replacements. I am only referring to the future use of the saftey-related components on another car.

I do not think it worth $10000. There is no much market for used parts for that model. All cars are under warranty or repair paid by insurance. Why would one want to buy used parts is he can get new ones for free?

If you want to sell parts, I'm looking for the trunk lid liner and the silver dash piece.

He's NOT parting it out and no one is going to spend $10K when there are only a few worthwhile parts. I'd buy the front seats if he was gonna buy it and part it.

I guess just don't crash!

I hope the engine is still running good because that is the most worthy parts. Sorry for your loss especially I have the same car like yours in south Bay.

I have a feeling insurance rates are going to skyrocket in the next 6 months.
