That is because Toyota and subaru actually engineer and rigorously test products.Whether its a supercharger or turbocharger,they need to make sure it will endure a 150-200k possible lifespan.The engineers at Toyota and Subaru ask themselves "what are the conditions this unit might have to operate under and what effect will it have on the other components.

It's amusing that almost every speedshop who has made a kit so far has a similar experience.

"Alright boys, we'll need to find a place to put thi- Oh there's already a perfectly sized space for it? What about the pipi- oh it's clear exactly where it needs to go? Cool."

These aftermarket guys just find a place to stick it and thats it. They could care less if it lasts 10k miles or kills engine longevity for the long run. Im sure there are a lot of things they don't consider or plan on being problematic.Think they get 100k miles out of a supercharger before they try to "sell it" to the public?

The most i have ever gotten out of a paxton or vortech on previous daily drivers (mustangs)was 8-10k miles before bearings worn out.I changed my oil often,but it did not matter.

I agree. I was wondering how Le Mans stripes would look on this car and now I know! I think it looks great, although I do feel they should flow down the back of the trunk.

At first glance, I thought it was a Mustang (no this is not a bad thing). Partly due to the rocker stripes, I guess. Not many 'Stangs on TE37s though!

To comment on the performance, I think what he meant by the low end feeling like stock is that it isn't a sudden rush of power. The linearity is what "feels" stock-like, which makes sense.

Considering you are effectively slowing down crank speeds to run the compressor. A complete opposite with larger engines that produce good torque at no load. Mpg improve with larger engines.

What do you prefer WoW? I thing for these smaller cars, the Turbo seems to be doing more, but lots more things to install. The SC is less parts, but doing a little less.. But what do I know? I'm a noob

IMO the kit is not and has not been too apealing to me, Id settle for the AVO or Vortec kit anytime.

Hmmm if it was a track toy id go with a supercharger, theres benefit to having the powerband up high for HPDE especially in a well balanced car. I believe base on my own driving style, id make better lap times if my only focus was how fast i can enter a corner, vs how fast i can get back on boost without loading up the tires to exit a corner.

If i needed power for daily use and general overall performance, id go with a turbocharger. Foot-to-pedal is magical on a turbo car, and once boost hits its a wonderland of just outright speed, which the brz does sorely lack.

IRL, id probably go with a turbo. because i doubt ill end up using it as a dedicated track toy since i already have my rx7 that fills that spot.

Am I the only one that thinks this kit is horribly designed? I mean, look at all the pipes going everywhere. Almost like EVERYTHING was an afterthought once they decided to mount the SC in the middle. I don't like it. i mean, for a homebrew kit it's decent. But for a kit costing 5k? You have to be kidding.

Not impressed with this kit or the power delivery. Not being a hater, but it's just not my cup of tea.

The biggest reason why the price is higher is due to the fact that the piping is cast. If you don't know about the manufacturing, overhead on cast piping is enormous. Especially compared to mandrel bent or even section welded steel.

As for the design, I agree looks pretty bad. I would have preferred a design that had a shorter intake charge travel. I don't like how there is a direct 90 degree bend only inches away from the throttle plates. I don't particularly like pop charger intakes or generally open element, especially ones without shielding from bay temps.

I completely agree. This is one of the ugliest engine bays I've seen yet. The power gains are not impressive, and definitely way too expensive, regardless of what the pipes are made of. The whole kit just screams fail.
