Fair enough it doesn't look like one of those app radio but I originally wanted to go with a canbus capable unit. But I am leaning towards simplicity as of late. So maybe just one of those android decks but looks good dude

the newer pioneer units do run on android, but to my knowledge no one has cracked one far enough to get adb working, or to sideload apps. also they have a concept called warp, which is like odexing, but another step forward. allows for fast boots, but leads to problem when modding in concerned. I'm 100% sure this was intentional on pioneers part to inhibit cracking devices.

To my knowledge no pioneer units run torque without some addon android device doing the lifting and outputting video to the pioneer unit.

The stock one still works with that adapter, as far as I know.

Towards the beginning of that video it shows AV as source, Im pretty sure that's an addon android device, which is totally doable with many head units, even non-pioneer. but it's parts and work depending on how you want it to work.

I can't imagin it does, it doesn't actually have an aux jack to plug into the aftermarket head unit, only USB, so how could it?

I'll test later. I obviously could be wrong. Aux isn't a priority for me.

That, I'm pretty sure is still a phone mirroring itself based on the cell signal indicator, and the battery charge indicator which is not full.

I have seen a neat build for an addon android device for app radio in which you install a kernel that puts the device to sleep when its not charging and wakes it up when it detects charge on the USB port. You can do something like that and permanently have it installed with/behind the radio with appradio unchained.

it can be done, very seamlessly in fact with app radio unchained, but to my knowledge you need an addon android device to do the running of torque, even if its controlled thru the pioneer screen.

If you have an unlocked doner phone, or don't mind picking up an old phone to play with it can be done pretty cheaply. I have an old unlocked G2 I have considered doing this with, but haven't invested the effort beyond research.

I like how you mounted the Amp to the back of the backseat fold-down. What sort of hardware did you use?

I used the four screws that were supplied with the amp/ subwoofer unit.
