Hey, are you guys having words in my "Feel Good" thread?
11th commandment says - "thou shalt not have words in my feel good thread". EVVVA!! The tuna wars thread is a good one to have a battle in. Go to the tuna wars thread, go directly to the tuna wars thread, do not pass GO, do not collect R200,000 and seventy comma five million, do not... oh, whatever...

Feel Good contribution 2015!
2015 has drifted by quick!
I’ve owned my 86 for almost 2 years, and yet I still learn something new about it, almost every day. I must admit, that I’ve come close many times this year to trading it in for something more practical. (4 door vehicles like WRX’s, 135i’s etc) One thing I’v learnt after a few test drives, is that …once you get back into your 86, you somehow only remember the explicit driving experiences and not how you struggled at checkers the day before. I’ve done 5 track days this year , totaling approx. 110 recorded/timed laps. (Not something I expected). I had no intention of getting into track days, but after you make your first run…you can’t stop. Alarm clocks become obsolete on SuperTrax Sunday’s, as I wake up involuntary at 5am looking forward to the smell of race fuel, rubber and the sweet noises of engine/exhaust screams. I’m looking forward to the Michelin Cup 2016 and seeing the 86 community (FishEagle and Lost Salad) competing against the best in Gauteng! In terms of car parts / mods (Which makes me happy ), I’ve done the following this year: Purchased in 2015 and fitted: Exhaust/Engine/Gearbox: Borla UEL Header PLM Overpipe Custom 95Ron tune by Phoenix Performance Motul Gear 300 75w90 (Gearbox and DIF oil change) Wheels and Brakes: Toyo R888 semi slicks (To fit on Std Spec 16inch wheels) Endless PB05 brake pads (Front) Powerbrake RS Series slotted discs (Front) Bendix Ultimate brake pads (Rear) Powerbrake SS Lines (Not fitted) Motul RBF 660 brake fluid Cosmetic Mods: Grimspeed Hood Dampers Flossy Heavy weight shorty (Gear knob) Cusco drift spin knob Beatsonic Sharkfin v2 TRD rear trunk spoiler (Not fitted) GT86 badge(Not fitted) Suspension: Whiteline Camber bolts(Front) SPC Rear Control Arms (Not fitted) Future Mods (2016) – Not purchased as yet Flex Fuel Kit (Phoenix Performance) Whiteline suspension treats (Positive traction kit, bushings, mounts etc) Sway Bars Shout outs: Thank you @Freedom for the friendly call out… to join the P4P Track day in July, I had no intention or balls to do a track day! Glad I did it. I don’t think I’d be enjoying my car as much if I didn’t take that initial leap of courage. Thank you @Fish Eagle for your ever willing track advice and tips, and most of all, thank you for reminding me about the dangers / reality of track days. Keeps things REAL! Thank you @Dammod and Phoenix Performance for the support and reliable tuning services. PS. As much as the tuner wars get heated and ugly, IMO all sides have won this year. I think most/all tuners in South Africa have eliminated the dreaded torque dip, which is great! I hope all tunes&cars only get better from now on. All the best! Have a blessed festive season and epic New Year! Cheers to an explicit driving experience! Cheers to the 86! |

Going back through old videos, I found this one from Sept 2014.
Sadly, it's really poor quality, but I enjoy it anyway... It made me realise two things: 1. How much I miss the excitement of mixing it with racecars at Midvaal. There's a massive difference between dicing road cars and dicing race cars. The last two times I've been to Midvaal have been fairly quiet days, so I need to do some planning, and choose a weekend for Midvaal that's likely to be busy. 2. How far I've come since then. The little INEX legend cars made me look like I was going backwards, and even Tyrell Govinsamy's Polo made me look silly. Today, I'm 2 secs/lap off the top INEX Legend's pace at Midvaal, and I can match or beat Tyrell. Of course, Manny Ribeiro's turbo M3 is another kettle of fish - he's still 9 secs quicker than me at Midvaal. We made it to the other side! I whipped out the machine polisher these holidays, so I can really start 2016 fresh
Sneak peak, maybe more photos to follow. This is a work in progress photo when I was done polishing but hadn't applied wax yet. |

I think the photo speaks for itself. I'm happy with the results. No more skidpan for me though
