Unnecessary Boost needed (Turbo or Supercharge)
what do you guys think Turbo or Supercharger?
I love that you dont need to change stock internals, ppl are running 20psi on stock internals!! so turbo would be easy as supercharger. I have a new rotrex SC sitting at home wanted to put it on my e30 m3 s50b32 but she already has over 350hp and the GT86 Aero is lacking power. It would be the cheap solution for me but im contemplating to just save up for a turbo kit, ill get more power and that sick subaru sti sound. But SC will give a better power range as there is no lag and all the car really needs is 100 more ponies. What do u guys think what do you knw what have you done fill us in |

20psi on 12:5 compression with stock internal?
Seems like a recipe for disaster. |

The car lacks low-end torque. For that reason, a supercharger is your best option.

You mean "roots" or "twin screw" supercharger. A centrifigul type supercharger will not give you the type of torque you are looking for.

Nice to see another E30 M3 owner on here.
I would say go with a twinscroll turbo setup for pretty much the best of both worlds. JDL has one that they are selling. Do your homework on the different setups and see what your goals are.

Yup I got the GT86 cause it remindes me of my e30 m3 when it was stock. There both abt the same weight, both 4cyl with abt the same power, both rwd with LSD and both legendary cars Now iv done an almost complet restoration and put the 99 e36 m3 Euro motor s50b32 Dual Vanos 321hp with the 6 speed. She is very very very fast!!! and I have that Rotrex C38 i mentioned earlier but just waiting for the right time to set her up. I knw this is a 86/FRS/BRZ pace but gota show off the hard work i been doin and im sure u can appreciate it. Last edited by Nickse30; 05-20-2013 at 09:03 AM. |

This is on e85. E85 allows you to run approximately 7-10 psi more over 93. But very impressive though. 600 hp with e85 or race gas. This should be around 400-450 on 93.
I like upercharger more, for it simplicity of no manifold needed, no exhaust routing, and lowend torque. But we sacrifice 15-30% of it capability for that instant torque. Turbo = lag, but can get full potential of the car SC = no lag, but up to 30% power cut. Because it runs directly off ur engine |

F**k it, throw the Rotrex on there! I was gonna go S/C myself but I have a brand new Garrett GTX2863R sitting around, so I figure why not save the thousand bucks and go with the turbo?

Beautiful m3 man!
I'm currently not sure what I'm going to do with my car. Considering just about every F/I choice, LOL. Currently leaning a little more towards either AVO turbo, or Innovate twin screw (@robispec just posted some videos in the forced induction section, check it out!). One of the requirements I have is to retain the driving dynamics of this car, and I feel that the sudden torque surge of a turbo/twin screw might upset that - but I haven't driven either so I'm not sure. I've heard Jackson racing is also developing a Rotrex supercharger for this car. The after market for this car is just booming |

I'm leaning towards supercharger (not centrifugal) for that low end torque boost. Superchargers don't make as much power but all I really want is around 300-330hp total. I want the BRZ faster, but not too fast than a lot of modification to the rest of the car is needed for participating reliably in weekend track events.
