Joke aside, I don't agree with "long engine life with slippery tires" argument. What is the point of having more power if you cannot put it on the road? Or even worse, if you cannot keep the car on the road? I think sticky tires are even more important with increased power after FI. Plus, it is so much more fun to drive with sticky tires and increased power, at least to me. This car can drift with any tire at 300 hp level. I just prefer having the drift threshold at a safe level where I specifically prefer to do it, not in the middle of an emergency maneuver.

Engine longevity depends on the driver. There are examples of failed NA engines based on driving here.

Better handling for sure, but dollar for dollar, they can't come close to the twins if anything but power is why you bought the car.

I feel that some of us who cherish this car have hopelessly been stuck in the 80s/90s. This car is fulfilling so many weird "small car rwd" fantasies for me without being a Miata or an e30/36 BMW, it's perfect. Bonus: it has a great fueling system and fuel mileage!
Dude I just got my 86 yesterday and I have to agree this is spot on. There's just something intangible about it. It's just a cohesive well put together package with little nuances that really make it special.

I've also owned a few mazdaspeeds making over 300whp, a turbo civic si, supercharged miata etc.

I don't miss having more power and the 86 doesn't feel "slow".

I might. But I'd proably go with something like the Jackson Racing or HKS since I've already had the positive displacement type last time.

Your reducing torque and load and thus less likely to eject a rod or sacrifice a clutch. Nothing more or less. The advice is fine for street driving and the general pop.

Based on my experience so far, I most likely would buy the exact same set-up again, with the oem factory warranty from Lachute Performance with a brand new BRZ RS (model is called BRZ LP Turbo). It has been 18months and 30,000 kms since the turbo kit was installed and it’s been very reliable and a pleasure to drive all year long. Hopefully I’ll be able to say this for many years to come. I can’t think of any other car for this money that would give me this level of performance and fun, in a light balanced chassis, driveable all year long and with enough room in the trunk for roadtrips and even outdoor outings. I appreciate have fun driving it without having to actually go fast on the street, and the super balanced chassis when attending an HPDE session.

I would do it again even though my motor might be on the way out. It's got 61k miles and has been making that clanking passenger side engine noise between 1-3k rpms when warmed up. I had the noise prior to boost(since 20kmiles) and have been boosted for 20k miles/1.5 years. I went from 160whp135wtq to 300whp255wtq and I did it all for a great price. I can't see myself in nothing else under 50k
