The stuff does pour like water. Just changed at 1144. Couldn't find any Penzoil Premium 0w20 so just picked up 6 quarts from the dealer. I somewhat agree with OP. The sound difference is totally noticeable, I just don't think it's as drastic as what he described.

Really $20 dollars for Toyota Oil filter? Only $7.50 in SoCal. I change my oil at 2000 miles Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0W-20. Engine smooth out about 2300, notice MPG going up as well.

Could it be that the overfill of the oil was the cause of the change in engine noise? To find out I went back under the car the next day. I attached a short hose with the little plastic connector that came with my Fumoto oil valve. I was able to drain exactly 0.5 quart of oil from the oil pan by only partially opening the valve to control the flow. Wow! I would not have been able to do this so precisely without the Fumoto valve. Also, I used only one blue paper shop towel for the entire procedure including checking the dipstick afterwards!

If anyone is curious on the safety of using a fumoto valve on this car....
I just put mine on and it's very secure and surrounded by underbody panels. It's also recessed below the panels so I'm definitely not worried!

does anyone know if i purchase the fumoto valve will it void the warranty for service? I get free oil changes and other maintenance. I would like to purchase the fumoto valve and have them install it when i call for an oil change.

Why would you waste your money on a part that makes it easier for a DIY guy on the ground to do an oil change, if you get free oil changes? What kind of oil drain bolt could void a warranty? Full of derp.

They are the same. But in the first few months some toyota dealers were charging $20 a pop for them while the subaru dealers were charging 8.

Does the valve make it possible to change the oil without using ramps or a rack?

Without this valve I used to change the oil on my stock height (4x4, heh) WRX without lifting it. |

when installing my fumoto I tossed the iffy fiber washer and went with a copper washer combined witha factory crush washer, no leaks, and I get a bit better drainage, as the threads dont sit as high into the pan. I also too some sand paper and put some crosshair like roughness on one side of the dipstick, it helps the oil 'stick' if you will and makes it easy to read level
I think my ramps are the rhino 8000s... having lowered, I still need some wood to get it up....LOL park one set of wheels up on the curb and oil changes under 5 minutes, no mess, no ramps |

You may still need a ramp, or at least a way have enough clearance to reach the valve to do the oil change, since you'll need to attach the plastic adapter/barb and tubing and be able to open the valve. I happen to have a steep enough curb on my garage that I can reach the valve from the side, so no need for my rhino ramps.

I have an oil extractor, so I'm not even going to have to lift the car up to do my oil changes. Remove the dipstick, insert tube, and pump. It works really well on my Miata (I can spin off the filter from the engine bay as well).
No muss, no fuss, no mess. [ame="http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=oil+extractor"]Amazon.com: oil extractor[/ame] |
