It was at night so appearance did not affect this outcome. I'm 40, so I don't really draw attention for being a teen in a sports car and it was night time as I said and he couldn't have seen how I was dressed. Not that it matters too but I had a white t-shirt, shorts(worn correctly and not hanging off my ass), and running shoes.

I had a pile of take out food in my car and was driving slow so as to not tip the food over. He immediately pulled out after to follow me when I left the restaurant parking lot. I seen him the whole time from when I started my car in the restaurant parking lot and all the way back to my house.

He followed me past the city limit where he has jurisdiction and threw the lights on a good 1/4 mile past his area and he had plenty of time before we got even close to my house. All the way up to sitting behind me before we crossed over highway 1.5 miles from restaurant and then he popped the lights on as I was driving through a parking lot that cuts over into my neighborhood. He is following me where he shouldn't be. So strike one against him.

Then after pulling me over he says I was speeding and driving like a "hot shit". Strike two for making up a lie about my speed and my driving style.

No attitude because I know if you give it they'll give it right back. A while back when I had no radar detector and got pulled over a handful of times, they would let me go with a warning because I played nice. One even let me use his laser gun to show me how accurate it was since I questioned it.

Then the license plate cover was brought up because it is tinted. I also have crazy bright leds on the license plate so it's actually more visible than most plates. I could give him this one since it is technically tinted but still plenty visible from far.

And strike three...as I pulled out my license and reg., he saw I was a concealed carrier and ask me if I had a weapon on me. I did and he immediately yelled for me to get out of the car and asked where it was. I said my hip and he took it out and yelled about how it's the law to tell him I have it. Strike three because he is a law officer and under FL statute 790.06, I do not have to voluntarily give up that information unless the officer asks for it and he did not until he seen my CCW license in my wallet. I called his superior and made sure to let him know his underling needs to know the laws better before he spouts off nonsense to the well informed. He apologized and said he would inform him on the law so the mistake wasn't made again. I'd like to add this jerkface was at least 40-45, so there was no excuse to not know the law as I doubt he was a rookie.

Threeeeeeee strikes and he's out of there! Jerkface cop with the L and Impureclient with the W with no ticket and bonus point for making dumbnuts cop look like a doofus to his superiors.

Make no mistake, sir. I "speed", or go over the posted speed, all over the place as do 99.99% of us daily. I just don't get any tickets any more for going 5-10 mph over because some d**kwad has a quota, or whatever they want to call it since quotas don't exist. At the time of that stop, he was in the wrong all over the place. So yes, I was harassed for what I could only guess was my "hot shit" car. You are correct though, it does not add up. Putting a defected human into the equation does that a lot of the time. Why do people drink and drive? Why do people steal candy bars? Why do people shoot heroine? Why do uninformed cops harass innocent people? Your guess is as good as mine.

In my state cops are more suppressed if you don not have a firearm in your car. You're story does not add up. See I have never been pulled over when I have done nothing wrong. I usually get pulled over for speeding. Contrary to popular belief there is not "5-10" mph above the speed limit grace. If you're going over the speed guess what you're breaking the law. If you have a tinted plate and the officer can't completely make out the plate because you obstructed it no matter the lighting is grounds for a traffic stop. If you're trying to hide anything don't you think that's a little suspicious and would be something worth checking out no matter how small it may seem.

I understand you being joe public and are not security minded but once you come to the other side you start to view things in a different manner. Try walking in their shoes instead of imagining that you're always the victim even though you have clearly labeled things that make you stand out from other drivers.

You think I'm lying about what I'm saying here? I also had never been pulled over for doing nothing wrong. That changed and that's why I'm pitching a fit.
What do I have to gain over this, yours and a couple other member's disdain? Believe it or not, some cops are just stinky buttholes.

I never said there was a 5-10 speed limit grace, I said I don't like getting a speeding ticket for going 5-10 over since it's accepted that all people do it on the daily. Doesn't happen any more so that is in the past.
I've also asked at least a good 10+ officers over the years and they all told me the same thing..."keep it under 10 mph and we'll leave you alone." Some of them have a bad day or are pushed to write those tickets as we see here.
In my case, I wasn't pulled over for an obscured plate, he said I was speeding when I asked why I was stopped. The plate thing was just him piling more BS on top of the big pile he already had lined up.

You're correct, that I'm not in security but I am secure minded. Concealed carry permit holders are the most law-abiding citizens in the U.S., much to the dismay of a couple law officers it seems, and
we are convicted of misdemeanors and felonies at a rate less than the rate of police officers. They don't just hand concealed weapons licenses out to anybody and we are highly vetted to have that privilege.
I wouldn't be surprised to find out the doofus who pulled me over had several run in with the law himself the way he handled himself.
I also never stated that I was always the victim. I had several pull me over in the past and they were professional and forgiving on a slight oversight left me with a warning for slightly going over.

We've strayed so far away from the OPs topic so I will reiterate with use Waze, a radar detector, dashcam, and be more aware of where they are normally/when they're usually there.
Armed with that, there won't be much need to talk your way out of a ticket or fight it in court since they won't be picking you out of the crowd to play their game.

There are beat cops with better things to do than write tickets. They actually can’t stand writing tickets. Those are the ones that let you get away with “breaking the law”. It’s the traffic cops that camp out waiting for someone to go over the limit the slightest bit. Traffic cops primary job is to write tickets. They don’t have a quota but do you think their boss will be happy when they come back every day without writing a single ticket when their primary job is writing tickets?

I do use Waze but I’ve never owned a radar detector. I get a speeding ticket once every 4 years probably and I take it like a big boy (regardless of how far over the limit I was).

I've been followed while minding my own business doing absolutely nothing wrong but never pulled for no reason. I like to think the cops the deliberately follow me are just car guys who want a look.

I wanted to post a quick update. So I went to traffic court today to fight my ticket, the officer did not show up so the judge ruled in my favor.

So take that all you naysayers!

Won't work everyplace. They don't have to show up here they just have to provide a written statement.

Hey! Congratulations, you beat the system - even though you deserved the ticket. I hope you're very proud of yourself. Good for you! Now, it's time to grow up and act like a man.

Well I'll go against the tide here and say congrats for beating a BS ticket. If the cop thought it was important, he would've showed up. Clearly not, which only resulted in wasting your day and gas driving to court.

we all speed lol. Plus 13 mph over the limit is not the worst thing to happen. We all do 120 in 100 down here, and it's the same thing. Roughly 13 mph difference. People that I know whose friends are cops say they don't start ticketing unless the person is lane jumping, accelerating/overtaking aggressively, or going closer to 130 km/h. Moving 13 mph over the limit along with traffic isn't so bad.
