It is in the sense would you pay Volk money on a set of Rotas? I mean if I want exhaust leaks I'll get an external wastegate, not an avo kit.

... but that intake/intercooler piping.... so simple and short. Much response.

I wish my Full Blown piping was like this.

Meh. Piping on the cool side isn't the only thing that has an effect on response. Give me Ptuning's exhaust layout and I'll gladly accept the long piping on the cool side.

Compromise #1:

Literally half the intercooler is obscured by the bumper. Why else do you think all the shops are posting pictures with the bumper cover + reinforcement missing?

I count 16 vertical rows on the intercooler. Here's Greddy's shot with the bumper reinforcement attached:

Now only 8 rows are visible. That does not even include the bumper cover. You'll maybe have 6 or 7 rows getting active airflow with the stock bumper cover.

Compromise #2

The bumper reinforcement is gutted of all its structural integrity.

Not sure what the bumper reinforcement is good for? Take a gander at this:

http://www-nrd.nhtsa.dot.gov/pdf/esv.../07-0105-O.pdf

TL: DR?

See the blue pieces here? These are the structural pieces to distribute load in a frontal crash.

The "bumper reinforcement" is the structural piece that connects the driver's side rails to the passenger's side rails. It needs to be strong so that it can distribute the energy of a crash across both structural rails of your car. When the "bumper reinforcement" front beam fails, the energy goes into your power train instead and your girlfriend winds up with an engine in her lap.

Front beam doing its job:

Front beam failing at its job:

When you gouge the bumper reinforcement to make room for this intercooler, you are turning a structural C-Beam into a thin piece of steel and destroying your car's ability to distribute frontal crash loads.

It doesn't matter how good of a driver you are if an SUV takes a blind turn right in front of you. AMHIK.

Cut that beam at your own risk. Yes that applies to FA20Club kits too.

- worlds most unequal length exhaust manifold & an adapter pipe(ceramic coated)
- cheap silicone hose for charge pipes
- misc clamps and oil line for the sp and turbo

Now I'm not saying it's not capable of making decent power, however I will say AVO went as cheap as possible on material/assembly/production cost. And yet most people seem to pay 4200. Bov being a $200 option.

I dont know if you actually know/have experience with the materials used but sure each kit made is lucky to be above $1000 USD turbo included.

Now we can argue it's due to R&D, but I think what they're making back for r&d is a little absurd. If you would like to know what actual "street cost" aka what vendor cost is shoot me a pm.
Do you have personal experience of the AVO kit, or are you only trolling? As far as I know, AVO's factory is in Thailand, not China. Having had my AVO kit on my car for about six months now, I am totally happy with it, its quality, and the price I paid. I do not think many of the other options available have had as much R&D as the AVO kit.

Just noticed that the Greddy turbo kit (non cat version) is selling for $4,300 CAD on japanparts.com. Shipping shows as $215 CAD to Canada.

Did the yen take a dive or something? Either way, people should jump all over this.

When designing our kit, we thought of ways to route the piping without hacking the car up and that is why we routed our piping the way it is.

Also, that allowed us put the filter outside the heat soaked engine compartment.

Any turbo kit that compromises the structural integrity of the vehicle is not well thought out.
They should design the turbo kit knowing the constraints of the car and the space they have to work with.
Having to hack bits of the car away so they can fit their product seems.. misguided.

This is why i bought the Speed by design kit.

Same exact kit manufacture from Zage.

But only $3,999 instead of Greddy $5k

So it had nothing to do with the fact that you live in Oklahoma City and are not JDM?
