I know the auto gearbox supposedly can handle 450 whp as I was told by a guy who was building his engine and he had an auto. I think the common consensus is that anything above 350 you're on thin ice with a manual

It's not the horsepower that destroys the manual gear box, it's the amount of torque, with 350ft/lbs being the limit IIRC. Stock clutch is good for around 210-220 ft/lbs.

Doesn't the gear you're trying to find out also matter?

I recall reading something about the first three gears being sturdier being triple cones and some FI people would rip through their 4th gears.

Jacks transmission has gears but its expensive. Might as well do a trans swap with 350z trans.

CD009 takes a fair bit of modification of the transmission tunnel if you do end up going that route.

i believe verus engineering has some gearsets in testing but they arent ready yet.
https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121071

jacks transmission has synchro upgrades for around 2k as well as a full 1-6 upgrade for 8k

cd009 is a pain to fit in the tunnel as well as the starter location is a problem i believe.

dogbox is not practical in street driving (but ofcourse you can do it)

I never had any issues with any of my Powerglides. Both the gears always worked flawlessly.

Upgraded synchro is better than CD009?

I grenaded my 3rd gear with only 310 wtq.

I was also driving like the savage I am.

So below 350 isn't gospel.
