the holden Commodore is the Chevy SS in the states.

as for having a poor build quality... the c7 vettes quite impressive. Like n20 said, if you saw one you wouldn't have that opinion on their build quality.

I guess I'm just comparing it to what I'm used to! Apologies if I've offended anyone!

No offense taken. That's the reason I said you have to see it in person. Comparing it to what you're used to in cars of GM's past and then basing opinions on that shouldn't be done. The new one is that much better.

Think 991-911 minus about 10% in interior quality is roughly where i'd put the C7. Not quite as good, but no longer the plastic garbage of the c5/6

You're quite mistaken if you think the Viper isn't a damned good sports car. It's faster than any sports car you can buy for less than $250k, other than the Nismo GTR (which is $50k more than the Viper). It's also the only sports car that performs on that level that still utilizes a proper 3 pedal manual transmission set up. (take away all the shift time advantage the GTR has and the Viper wins every time).

Sounds like 2 really good reasons to me.

If this is the case, then fair does. Maybe people over here just like what they like, if that makes sense. London is perhaps the best place in the world for car spotting (especially in the summer) and I saw one new Corvette. It's a baby blue wide body thing. That's one middling sports car among several Veyrons, Zondas etc. I guess if they're selling well enough in the US they don't feel the need to branch out abroad?

They are certainly selling well in the US. Interestingly, some guy on Car and Driver commented the fact that the Corvette is actually significantly more expensive than a BMW M3/M4 in Europe. If that were the case here, that would be an odd thought.

From all the articles one has read about how great the well-heeled, very rich are doing in cities like London and New York, its not surprising seeing million dollar cars frequently. Regardless, for those doing well, this feels like a golden age of sorts for automobiles. Get a bit jealous about how lucky those a bit younger are with these opportunities(past tense), lol.

We sold our launch edition viper a couple weeks after release to a retired colonel who owned a couple businesses. Stickered at $151k. Only 150 made though so that got him all horny about it.

I'm glad to see the price drop though, this $120k GTS in my showroom will go that much sooner. Its overstayed its welcome. :p

If I had the money, hands down I'd buy a viper over a new C7 Z06.

Don't you guys get taxed on engine size or something to that effect also?

It's probably quicker for me to list things we don't get taxed on.

But yeah it's something to that effect.
