Is there a reason why it is called Heel toe instead of toe and pinky on this car. I felt like, maybe its just my shoes having a chubbier front, I am using more of the pinky are to blip then my heel.

depends entirely on the pedal setup

but yes, for most cars it ends up being a rolling motion between the left and right side of the finger end..

Yeah, "heel toe" is just the original term used to describe using your right foot for both brake and throttle.

I've seen people heel-toe, toe-toe, and toe-heel.

It just depends on the driver's foot/shoe shape and the footbox shape in the car.

Here is a pic of my fronts after a day of track. Ran them around 38 and they seemed to feel really good. How do they look to you? Any concerns? Hard to see here, but the treads seem to stick out kind of weird...

Same here; but try doing it on a car like a Corvette, you DEFINITELY need your heel and toes for blipping the throttle under braking.

@gdrider77: You can drive harder! The tires are hardly worn, and are not seeing much heat.

Thats great to hear, and yeah, trying to learn the track, but i shaved off about 40secs from my lap time from the start of the day to the end. I feel like thats a good improvement for my first time. What i really need is an instructor who knows this track well. Need to learn the lines better, as well as my driving technique.

One thing i noticed, close to the end of the day, my last runs the tires seemed to really slide more in the corners, is that normal?

I was thinking of keeping my current wheels and tires for my DD, and get a good set of tires and wheels for the track, wheel size and tire recommendations? Thinking squared?

Thanks for the input!

Your're getting faster, so your tires are heating up more, as well as you gaining confidence in the car, so you're gassing more aggressively. The rear sliding more is totally normal, and learning to manage is part of learning to become a better driver.

What's your budget for wheels/tires, and are you looking to get dedicated track tires?

I know a pyrometer is ideal, but what would you recommend as a starting point for hot pressures for the Dunlop Z2 tire at the track (BW 13CW). 225s on 17x8 wheel. Thanks!

I wouldnt say i have an exact budget, but if i could do something around $2000, that would keep the wife happy. Kind of. haha.

If i do dedicated track tires and wheels, then less money there, since i will need both the wheels and tires, if i do a more aggressive tire on my current wheels, then i could spend more on just the tire.

This is not my daily and i dont drive it in snow/rain, so thinking that maybe just a real aggressive street tire?

Just not sure.

open faced = easier to breath/talk (if you've got instructors)

closed face = more protection, harder to breath, harder to talk in (unless you have air tubes and built in headsets... ballleerrrr)
