Took it out of storage for a day

After a long cold spell near Edmonton, it finally hit + degrees. After a quick check of the weather and saw no rain, and the roads were clean on my way home from lunch. I decided to ditch the truck and let the car loose for a day in what has felt forever in a long winter.

I remember why I so emphatically love this car. Driving my far too massive work truck has made me truly appreciate being close to the road, and feeling everything the car is doing.

Now, time for the eternal wait when I can take the long way home. This I fear will be the last time for a few months with her.

My town is pretty bad with ice removal, just saw plows and snow removal for the first time last week and that was only the highway running through the town.

That combined with the other drivers nearly crashing into my truck every other day, I'd just not risk it. If I saw clean streets on a more regular basis I'd buy some snow tires and go to town, but otherwise, it's more effective for me to buy studded tires for my beater truck and just use that until it thaws.

I am one to believe that if you truly like and care for your car that you won't drive it in the winter. Especially if you drive every day.

Cars just aren't the same after a single winter.. And that isn't in a good way. Especially in cities like Toronto and all of Alberta where they unload salt like its free.

If you are lowered and have a lip kit driving in the winter is some scary sh!t. The interior also gets filthy as hell. When I detail cars it doesn't take long to figure out which cars have been through winter and which haven't.

Even if you took it out for a day, there is more than likely residue for sand/salt under your car..

Since OP has a truck, then why not store the car?

Since psyfer can type, why doesn't he know how to read?

Hehe. He does store it, but took it out for a day.

I believe it was a rhetorical question, unfortunately there's no font for that.

So do you pay for insurance year-round even though you store during the winter?

More likely than not he is not covered to drive in the winter. Same here, but I have driven it around my subdivision a few times, hooning in the school parking lot.

From my experience its more like gravel/salt mixture in Alberta...

There's a reason windshield coverage isn't common (or didn't use to be when i lived there in the 90's) in alberta.

Seemed like every 4th car has a ship or cracked windshield...
