I’ve thought that too i.e. shorter wheelbase, just a shelf behind two seats, and 150-200lbs lighter. Delete the radio and AC but keep the power windows, thanks. (;

You are so right. Sometimes, it's not worth waiting. I had the exact same thoughts as you, and last month went out and also bought a 2019 BRZ Limited with PP.
I angsted over trying to find out any information on the new BRZ/86. But the absolute rules about new cars are 1) it always takes longer than you think, 2) it's never quite as good as you hoped, and 3) even with Japanese cars, do you really want to buy the first model year? The other absolute rules about life in general are 1) it goes by faster than you think, and 2) we all probably have less time left than we'd like. At 62, and with some health issues, I probably have significantly less time left than most of the people here. For me it wasn't worth waiting. If the new BRZ/86 is irresistible, I'll buy it. Until then, I'll have fun with my 2019. Enjoy! Last edited by AnalogMan; 12-28-2019 at 08:44 PM. |

The last of the Gen 1's are arguably the best Gen 1's (speaking of cars in general). For that reason, this will still be on my radar.

hopefully they don't follow the lead of the "Z" dynasty. the Nissan/Datsun 240Z was a great car, then they just got progressively fatter and lazier.....

We can only hope that Subaru will continue to lead with Toyota supplying a large portion of the development money.

such is the power of "initial quality" and "what other vehicles did you consider" survey's.
