Weird sound from HVAC

Strange sound coming from the HVAC. Sounds like it’s coming right from the front vents. Even when the air is turned completely off. Any thoughts?

Haven't heard that one before. Does it change if you have the blower motor running?

Good question, short answer is no.

changing the airflow from off to 1,2,3 or 4 makes no difference in the sound.

Yeah I’ve been on this forum for years and I’ve never run across this sound before. It’s freaking me out

As @Ultramaroon said I'd put money on the two (or one) little 60-80 mm fans in the head unit. Sounds like a bad bearing in them. Removing the radio is quite easy to check and isolate the sound. Also I'm assuming they're PWM type fans so they could be an easy fix without replacing the head unit

Oh so there are actually little fans in the headunit?? I legit thought @Ultramaroon was just trolling

Thank you guys for the advice. I will definitely pull out the unit and check. It was really starting to get to me. I was starting to seriously consider the bleating lamb theory

I never shitpost in a tech thread until after the question/topic has been properly discussed.
