Tire Choice MPSS or Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06

I am trying to decide which tires to select. I drive my BRZ most of the year as a daily driver. If it snows or freezes i drive another vehicle. I want a good performance tire that I can drive but maybe track once or so a year. The two I am looking at are the Michelin Pilot Super Sport in a summer performance tire that specs out good in the rain. I have heard they are very slick when the temps go below 50 degrees. Anyone comment on this? If they get too slick in the cold then I will look at the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 in the High performance all season category as a better driver in the cold.
Any feedback or thoughts would be appreciated.

I recently purchased the DW06'S and love them as a year round tire. Especially in the rain, very confident. In freezing temperatures they have been proven to have a decent amount of grip. I can't comment on the track portion, but spirited driving in the rain has not been an issue so far.

Conti DW or MPSS. Either is fine. I'd skip the DWS because there's no real need for an all-season if you're never going to use them in the real cold.

The MPSS is going to be happier in the dry when pushed, but for one track day a year either is probably going to be fine.

I wouldn't waste your time with those tires. I'd suggest Bridgestone RE71R instead. Much better than both you mentioned.

OP said he only tracks once or so a year. Thus, RE71s are a serious overkill and won't wear well for a daily driver. If you don't take the car out in winter and only track it a few times a year, you should probably would go with the DWs or PSS.

Why are you comparing a summer tire to an all season? Compare the MPSS to the Continental DW, or the A/S 3 to the Continental DWS. Both summers are good in wet and dry above 40 degrees, although comparisons have the MPSS as better. If you're going to use them in colder weather, consider the all seasons. Comparisons generally put the A/S 3 above the DWS, but they're both good. Neither all season is as good as its respective summer tire in warm weather.

I had narrowed down the tires to what I would buy if a summer performance tire would work in most temps below and not be too slippery and the all season performance tire if the summer tire was out of the question below 50 degrees.
I most likely will go with the MPSS after feedback and PM,s on the summer tires. Drive the 4x4 when it gets too cold or snow.

Yes... the PSS will get a little hockey puck like when temps get below 45 degrees for a prolonged period of time (i.e., roads get cold; not just ambient air temp). Not crazy hard... but can get a little dicey depending on amount of moisture on the road. I went with DWS 06 this winter and for the brief period of time with sub-45 temps and a little bit of snow this winter, they have performed well for DD. When it's been dry and warmer ( I've pushed the DWS 06's kind of hard, it is evident that I would not want to do that too much. Grip isn't too bad, but the sideways flex is noticeable. When the temps get up again, I'll put the PSS back on.

I just picked up the Extreme DW's and they are brilliant in the rain. Hell, they're brilliant in standing water and they're boatloads of fun in the dry.

2 other redeeming factors... They are A) Inexpensive and B) Quiet.

I run the DW for daily tires, as well. Big fan of them in the wet.

If they are its only because Michelin is going to launch something even better. I wouldnt worry.
