Because I have an Aussie GTS and I leave my phone and iPad there all the time, no issues, I can even sit my hand all over it with no issues.
But it works perfectly when necessary.
Don't know if that will help you or not, but just throwing this out there.

I noticed with my Droid that it only happens when I'm charging with the USB port, and the cable/port is sitting on or near the crease in the seat bolster. If I angle the phone on the bolster so the port is elevated, or if I sit the phone in the middle of the seat, it doesn't happen.

you can put a resister in the air bag plug (just google airbag resistor fix) or ask the dealership to turn off the buzzer

An Iphone 5 or 4s will fit in the center console in front of the cup holders.

I don't have enough posts to click the thank user button, so I'll do it the old fashioned way. Thanks man.

All good here mate...I was just asking if anyone here knew for you US guys sakes.
I can sit anything I want there, charging or not, and it won't beep, but if even a child sits there, it works perfectly.
Cause it sounds like a highly annoying issue for you guys.
Thanks for the input anyway.

I don't know if it'll work with the FRS/BRZ, but at least with the Subarus that I know, there's a procedure for shutting off the chime. Here's an instructional video that I just found:

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3OvUo-u1xY"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3OvUo-u1xY[/ame]

If someone wants to try this, that'd be awesome. I know I have a much different car ('05 Legacy), but I haven't heard of this ever not working on a Subaru (and hopefully the FRS too).

You may have to try more than once! It took me a few tries to get it to work. Not sure what the issue was.

Also, just to be clear, I'm not suggesting that you drive around without your seatbelt.

Edit: He says 20 times in the video, but I just tried to do a lot (>20)

I just tried it on my BRZ limited and it didn't work, maybe with one with a key it would work

I have my old school Ipod classic hard wired to the AUX port in the dash. No bluetooth on those old bricks. It's fine on the floor, but if put it on the seat I get the chime. Lol. So, I'm guessing its the charging action that was mentioned earlier in the post. Otherwise, I can put a full case of beer in the front seat and nothing. Of course, maybe I should be buckling that in just to protect my precious cargo(now that I think about it)....

Did they LOOK at the space between the rear and front seats before writing that???

How is it possible for a rear passenger who has legs NOT press up against the seat!

The members of the FRS community are, in general, optimists. As such we like to refer to the rear seat as "amputee friendly" and not "way too small for normal people"
