Heads-Up to those installing FI on their FT86: Failure Point Addressed with Photos

After having two customers this weekend experience their EVAP solenoid hoses pop off, I had one of them come in today for further inspection.

It appears Toyota failed to add any clamps to the solenoid lines, which means these lines are not compatible for boost pressure.

With enough boost (10-12 PSI is what both of these cars were seeing on their boost controller tune)....these lines will eventually leak/pop off.

Regardless of the kit you chose, if retaining the factory intake manifold...you'll want to fix this before completing your install.

You will need:

(4) 9/16" Hose Spring Clamps

Running at 8psi, I feel like I am on borrowed time, lol. I'll probably get around to clamping these down in the next couple weeks.

Looks like most people that had them pop off were around 10psi or higher, I've been at 9psi for almost a year now without issue but i'll definitely be clamping them if I go for more boost.

Brand name is "HELP!", perfect lol

Thanks for the heads up

Off topic question about these hose clamps. I have an inline transmission filter on my other car that is held on by these style clamps. Should they be replaced after removing them to replace the filter or will they still clamp fine after being removed and put back?

Just picked up a 100 pack of the 9/16" spring hose clamps for $15 shipped.

We'll be including them in our turbo kit, free of charge, moving forward.

Would this problem relate to turbo kits or both SC & Turbo?
